The crashes occurred at random and troubled me because they werent merely a driver-reset crash. The most recent one happened while running through a normal game play sequence during the portion of the game where you are seeking someone held prisoner in a cell. I went to the second to last cell, unlocked it, and as I turned around it just crashed. None since then. It also occurred a few times following some fight scenes, but oddly, not during the fight scenes.

Mostly now I am just annoyed with the horizontal screen tear.

I had driver related crashes with sli enabled with this game... It would only happen in a few places too, which really pissed me off. Some things didnt get properly ported in the game. I had to lower the quality a bit and drop down a revision in my drivers to get it to work correctly. Also I had to disable SLI.

Try going back to a the beta driver before 314.22 and see if that works. Click Here for the driver

So disappointing! sad-smiley-002.gif

First I had to wait 4+ hours for the game to download on STEAM instead of just loading from my disks. mad.gif

From the start I kept crashing constantly (Within 10 minutes) no matter what settings I use. I can't disable Sli since I'm running 3 monitors in portrait mode. I can set everything to ultra and the game looks amazing and runs great (~60fps for up to 10 minutes) then freezes. It doesn't matter that much if my cards are overclocked or set to default or game set to low or ultra settings. I'm even running the latest 314.22 drivers (Updated for this game).

I guess I will just have to wait to play this until a patch or driver comes out that fixes this game. It really is sad that anyone would release a game with these kind of serious bugs. I own all the Bioshock games and I can't even play this new one right now.

Bottom line is it really looks amazing, for a few minutes anyway. rolleyes.gif

Just loaded up the game to see it updating. Any ideas what this has done cause it aint done diddley squat for the stuttering issue...!
all these people with so many issues. then there are all the people with zero problems.

make sure you are updated driver wise and do the tweaks to the config files for optimal performance. I never once had any crashes or any real fps issues even at 7680x1440.

however i had some problems on my 1600x900 laptop that I realized i wasn't running the latest beta drivers, updated and fixed even with a heavily overclocked gpu on laptop

The map loading stutter effects everyone, other than that mine runs fine. No crashes or FPS drops anywere other than the point you cross into a new area upon which yours and everyone elses game stutters.

I never had any map loading stuttering on either my desktop which runs at 7680x1440 or my laptop. I also didn't play the game without the tweaks to the config file

I never knew when it was loading anything. It was also on an ssd too

very doubtful, I've seen it on 4 different systems, all had the exact same stuttering

very true never noticed anything until people started complaining about it. still didn't notice it. asked a friend who is on a considerable weak system with a 5 year old processor and generic mobo that can't overclock with a gtx 560 and he didn't have that issue either
post #579 of 889
One thing I'm noticing more and more as I play is how certain areas seem to be plagued by stuttering issues, and it's always specific spots that trigger it. Seems to be most prevelant in big, open spaces - indoors I never have this issue. Again, not sure whether this is an AMD driver issue or something with the game. Really don't think it's a card issue since I'm usually lag free during combat and in sequences where my GPU is more taxed. Speaking of that, upping my fan speed manually has helped a lot with some of the stuttering in combat I was experiencing before. Pretty much completely solved that issue, in fact.

Since many say this problem affects all, me included, it wouldn't be a problem for you to record your gaming, have some application that will show your FPS and do go through this part 0:48 shown here.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZY7wA5q1qeg

Also, someone found out this
Quote:
I've done a bit of sleuthing, and I've found the files that are getting accessed in that video that was posted earlier at the first stutter (the 0:48 second mark, just after the baptism and just before the large door):

On close inspection, it reads these files once each time that point is passed:
BioShock Infinite\XGame\CookedPCConsole_FR\s_TWN_storeA_int .xxx
BioShock Infinite\XGame\CookedPCConsole_FR\S_TWN_Skywalk_Ge o.xxx
BioShock Infinite\XGame\CookedPCConsole_FR\S_TWN_Skywalk_FL 02.xxx
BioShock Infinite\XGame\CookedPCConsole_FR\S_TWN_Skywalk_Ge o2.xxx
BioShock Infinite\XGame\CookedPCConsole_FR\S_TWN_Skywalk_Ga me.xxx
BioShock Infinite\XGame\CookedPCConsole_FR\S_TWN_Skywalk_Ky n.xxx
BioShock Infinite\XGame\CookedPCConsole_FR\S_TWN_Skywalk_Lo ot.xxx
BioShock Infinite\XGame\CookedPCConsole_FR\S_TWN_Skywalk_Ge o_FL01.xxx
BioShock Infinite\XGame\CookedPCConsole_FR\S_TWN_Skywalk_Vi sta.xxx

And these files twice, at the same time:
BioShock Infinite\XGame\Content\Audio\Packed\Windows\Banks\ s_TWN_storeA_int.bnk
BioShock Infinite\XGame\Localization\INT\s_TWN_storeA_int.I NT
BioShock Infinite\XGame\Content\Audio\Packed\Windows\Banks\ S_TWN_Skywalk_Geo.bnk
BioShock Infinite\XGame\Content\Audio\Packed\Windows\Banks\ S_TWN_Skywalk_FL02.bnk
BioShock Infinite\XGame\Content\Audio\Packed\Windows\Banks\ English(US)\S_TWN_Skywalk _FL02_L.bnk
BioShock Infinite\XGame\Content\Audio\Packed\Windows\Banks\ S_TWN_Skywalk_Geo2.bnk
BioShock Infinite\XGame\Localization\INT\S_TWN_Skywalk_Geo2 .INT
BioShock Infinite\XGame\Content\Audio\Packed\Windows\Banks\ S_TWN_Skywalk_Game.bnk
BioShock Infinite\XGame\Content\Audio\Packed\Windows\Banks\ English(US)\S_TWN_Skywalk _Game_L.bnk
BioShock Infinite\XGame\Content\Audio\Packed\Windows\Banks\ S_TWN_Skywalk_Loot.bnk
BioShock Infinite\XGame\Content\Audio\Packed\Windows\Banks\ English(US)\S_TWN_Skywalk _Loot_L.bnk
BioShock Infinite\XGame\Localization\INT\S_TWN_Skywalk_Loot .INT

So I would guess that it's decompressing the .xxx files and then reading the audio/INT (I guess "interaction"?) files.

If you're curious, download a program called ProcessActivityView and run Infinite in windowed mode so you can see this other window. Thinking about it, it may only be stuttering because it's decompressing the .xxx files into the .bnk and .int files.

Edit: A bit more interesting: When walking back to the start of the checkpoint, you can see where it reads ahead the previous section, and the files it opens are only these two:
E:\SteamDirect\steamapps\common\BioShock Infinite\XGame\CookedPCConsole_FR\S_OFB_Sound.xxx
E:\SteamDirect\steamapps\common\BioShock Infinite\XGame\Content\Audio\Packed\Windows\Banks\ S_OFB_Sound.bnk

So yeah, I think it's stuttering on the decompression of those files, not necessarily the accessing of what's inside them... especially going by that last bit where it's only opening a single file.

Edit #2: The .xxx files I suspect are just pointers/index files. S_OFB_Sound.xxx is only 8KB, while S_OFB_Sound.bnk is 372KB.
