Just finished the game, the story was pretty nice, even if the characters weren't too good.

Combat just got boring as hell, repetitive.

Overall I liked it.

Can anyone tell me why this game does not have surround sound on the PC? Tried both Dolby Digital Live(SPDIF) and LPCM(HDMI). Stupid lazy developers...

Works fine for me... why call the devs stupid and lazy when the issue is on your end? Maybe that's the stupid and lazy thing to do, instead of trying to fix it? I can't think of more than like 2 games in the last 5 years that have released on PC without surround sound... none for any big releases.

I'd start looking at your drivers to see what the issue is. Dolby Digital Live does not provide surround sound. If you're using that 7970 card that is in your sig, and have a receiver hooked up to your speakers, simply pass through HDMI audio via that to get surround. You just need to have the HDMI drivers provided from AMD. Do not use the 13.2 drivers, they are missing the audio one, use the latest 13.3's. Then make sure you select "AMD High Definition Audio Device" in the sound playback device list. Then hit configure and set it up for surround sound.

If you're using onboard from the motherboard, then you need to get the R 2.70 high definition drivers from here. Then make sure you have it set to surround sound and HDMI selected from the audio playback device list. thumb.gif

This is incorrect.

And this is one of the few major releases where DD Live/DTS Connect do not work to provide surround sound (Bulletstorm did not have support either). And it has been mentioned in many forums I've visited (Steam, Gamespot, Gamefaqs, etc,). So I think I'm justified to call them lazy when I have paid them and can't use a well known feature, which I can use with any other game.

That said, surround does work using HDMI/LPCM, but then Eyefinity is activated (thinks I'm using 2 displays), 2d clocks/ idle power/ temps rise etc. Which is a hassle.

*EDIT: Update: I have a Z68 board, with 1 HDMI connection, which although has a max output resolution of 1080p (useless for my DVI only 1440p monitor), can be used to connect to my AV receiver. So now I have my 7970 connected to the monitor and the onboard HD3000 connected to the AV receiver providing LPCM audio! So the 7970 idle again @0.85v (Eyefinity disabled) and I can even remove the optical cable I was using. Thanks Derko1 !

My mistake! I've never been able to get Dolby Live working in surround sound.

Also... I have my 7970 connected to my NR1008 receiver and then my display connected to my receiver. That's really the ideal set up to get surround sound. I think you were connecting your display to the card and then the card to the receiver right?

If you can do it... try it. It'll be less of a hassle running multiple HDMI's back and forth.

Glad you got it working though! tongue.gif

Wow, the NR1008 is top of the line! I have a cheap Onkyo SR576.
The reason I need two cables is because my monitor only has a DVI port. So I can't connect the monitor to the receiver.
Also, I don't want to use the receiver all the time, it gets quite hot. So I have a pair of speakers connected to the pc as well. The receiver is only for games and music.

nah i'm not going to do that sorry. i'm done with the game until dlc if it's even worth it

plus my fps was already in the 40s anyways due to 7680x1440 but it certainly didn't tank like that video.

Odd. I played the whole game and didn't notice any stutter. I just reloaded my last save to see the ending again (because I missed the sequence after the credits the first time) and as the credits were scrolling it stuttered very obviously every 8 secs or so. I swear I never saw it in-game in my 12 hour playthrough and I haven't changed my drivers. weird.

Then you had stutter there, doesn't matter how much but you had.
