My dad wanted to buy a new HDLED TV for watching TV and for his computer monitor as well. When I plug the HDMI cable from the computer to the TV I was able to get the best picture at 1280x720 resolution I assume since its 720p. I was wondering if this HDLED TV was 1080p and I was able to raise it to 1920x1080 would it look alot better? My dad thinks and I think it's blurry at 720p and would look better at higher resolution. Would we notice anything different if we got a 1080p HDLED TV instead?
Comparing two HDTVs of the same size (ie 32'') via the same cable/connection (ie HDMI), the 1080p will give a superior look over the 720p for sure. This is especially noticeable when they are used for computer purposes (eg web browsing, text processing).
As a computer display, you generally sit closer and the much larger pixel size of the 720p HDTV becomes a significant factor.
1080p is always better than 720p, in every situation. I hope you get it sorted out, and if possible, order from somewhere other than Best Buy. They overcharge and customer support is pretty crummy.
