System Turns on, But Nothing boots

Hey guys. I'm having a very nerve-racking problem and I can't seem to find out whats causing it. I bought a K8N-VM Mobo (S754) along with a A64 3400+ to put in my bros system. Well I installed everything + windows on my kitchen counter (as i always do ) and everything worked fine. I then tried to install it inside my case (XION) and when I turned the system on, All the fans and HDD's would turn on but my Screen on my monitor would still be on Standby. So I'm thinking, maybe its my Vid card (EVGA 7800GT), so I took it out and tried the onboard vid and it still wouldnt work. Then I unscrewed everything and reassembled it on my table and it worked fine. But everytime I turn the PC on inside my case it doesnt boot up.

I then put it inside the case and left some screws out, still no go. Then I wiggled the mobo alittle and it booted up fine. The next day I tried to turn the PC on and It still didn't want to boot up. The PC only boots up everytime not installed in the case compared to sometimes booting up inside it. Any ideas on whats going on?

Something might be grounding out make sure the motherboard is not touching the case.

Take out your cmos battery and change the cmos jumper then turn off the powersupply
hit the front of the case powerbutton to drain power then wait 2 minutes.

Then put jumper back to normal leave the battery out and turn pc on if you get a video
Turn it back off and put the battery back in.

I just read more off it somehow that case is grounding out the pc.

Some part of the case is touching the mobo, causing a short.

Make sure you used standoffs in all the proper locations...and that nothing metal touches the mobo underneath or anywhere.

Well, my friend had a similar problem and he was on the phone to his friend (from here i think) and it turned out there was a plug on the mobo that wasn't plugged in. I don't know where it was but check all connections and such. Perhaps if you wiggled the mobo the power connection was completed..

He had the same problem, everything boots but no picture on screen.

Do you hear a beep when you try to boot?

I tired to put the styro foam pad that came with the mobo packaging and its still hit or miss.

No beeps are heard, I did notice when i pushed down on the front panel area that connects to the power swtich it would turn on, but still gave a blank screen. And everything seems to be connected.

Mine did that when my HSF bottom plate was accidently grounding to the MoBo...then to the case. Worked great outside of the case, but grounded inside.

could be a dodgy momentary power switch. Try disconnecting the power switch from the mobo and using a metal object to momentarily short where youd normally plug the power switch into. If the system boots, you know your switch is faulty. check the reset switch aswell. Is the case you are using a budget case? If so, the switch is more likey to be of poorer quality and more likely to be faulty.

Other than that, sounds like the mobo is shorting on the backplate. Check your standoffs carefully!

^ Case

The back plate isnt touching any metal, neither is the whole mobo.
