That is a great build. I agree that its better to stay away from water cooling unless you need to have it... and it doesn't sound like you do.

Go to www.avsforums.com and look for some help on buying a good computer speaker system.

i would choose a better cooler, maybe think about a tec and/or water setup

but choose the e6600 over the e6700, its just a higher multi for way more money, NOT WORTH IT.

and i wouldnt choose the abit board, wait until its matured a bit and people have bought it and know what kinda fsb vaules you can reach, maybe wait for the r600 chipset from ati ?

By request through PM:
Total: $3,154.97
  • For this build, I went all out on the motherboard. The P5W64 is an excellent overclocker (near 500MHz FSB right out of the box!), and unlike the Abit, you actually have useable PCI slots, even when running Crossfire/SLI.
  • There is a bout $250 - $300 room for cooling solutions. Water could be an option (for now on the CPU only, and when you have those DX10 cards, on the GPU(s) also).
  • I picked the 750W silencer, since it's plenty powerful for any rig with a single GPU (even DX10). At this moment, there is NO PSU on them market (in my opinion) that would power dual GPUs. Either replace the PSU if you ever go dual GPU with DX10 cards, or add another decent single rail PSU.
Possible savings:Total will then be $2,784.97 (assuming that I keep the Raptors and drop the Seagates; doing it the other way around will knock off another $140)

That's indeed the choice.

However, even if you don't go Crossfire, there still is only one PCI slot. I need two (sound + wireless Ethernet). Also, for those who want a soundcard and a PhysX card, the Abit poses problems.

The Abit board would have been a whole lot more desirable to me if one of the PCI-E x1 slots would have been a regular PCI slot (preferably the bottom one), or if they'd moved the whole set of PCI-E and PCI slots up a bit so that one more PCI slot would fit on the bottom of the motherboard.

Bad design in my opinion.
