Looks like a really solid build. I would look into the corsair mentioned above though just me... But by no means a bad build.biggrin.gif

Merely wondering why you are only using Kinston Value RAM 2x2? rolleyes.gif Isn't that and possibly PSU the problem you are having using the GTX550 stuttering and such?
With your 1100T even if not OC and the 550, games should be screaming - shouldn't they?
Also, merely curious why Win 7 Home ..'anything'..? rolleyes.gif Pro or Ultimate 64-bit! smile.gif
If you decide to sell that 550 and / or the x4 640, please let me know.
I also stayed away from builds after my one in Dec-2003, when I was an Intel fan from the late 80s. I did not do another build until Feb-09, when I researched the pants off of Intel vs. AMD price/performance and AMD won hands-down. I'm now an AMD guy thumb.gif all the way from at least thru the Phenom II x4-x6 lifetime. I'm merely waiting on appreciable price drops to go with an unlocked and OC a 960T at ~$60 or an 1100T OCd if it gets to $100.
BTW: In May, when I built two new rigs, from Fry's with rebates on both sets, I snagged Corsair XMS3 1600 (OC) 2x4 in two sets for $41/8GB using 8GB in one rig and 8 in the other leaving two slots open to bump to 16GB when appropriate . They run at 1333 and I've not even tried any V changes to bump them to 1600. Your use of 2x2 value ram is something I don't understand, but I don't know much so go figure.
Good Luck and Good Fortune this New Year. cheers.gif

I'm running a Sempron 145 @ 4ghz on an a880g+

Just an update on how my dad's HTPC has been doing so far. Despite the 80GB and the 320GB IDE HDD dying out, my dad decided to splurge a bit more and bought a SATA 500GB Seagate Barracuda. Ever since, it's been working wonders. Heck, there was even a stint of me and my dad playing NFS: Hot Pursuit 2010, and the GT440 did its job well at handling the graphics demand.

That said, it's quite the opposite on my pc. Well, the GTX550Ti's problem has struck my nerve every so often. (The usual, reinstall graphic drivers ever time if I restart the pc, or just turn off, and on it again, else gameplay is affected. Till now I'm not sure what's the main cause of it.) Because of that, I've decided to revise my plan on what I need to purchase in the upcoming months, as well as a further upgrade, in preparation for another PC build, my sis' pc.

February - Palit GTX460 Sonic - http://www.palit.biz/palit/vgapro.php?id=1337
March - Asrock 990FX Extreme 4 - http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=990FX%20Extreme4
April - A second Palit GTX460 Sonic (This is yet to be confirmed, but I am planning to dual SLi one day.)

As for the Gigabyte mobo, and the GTX550Ti gpu? The mobo will be used for my sis' pc build, which will be a challenge for me as I'm planning to get a slim casing for her. The gpu... I'm not entirely sure on where it will end up, but I'm sure it will have a place in a pc one day... Perhaps my mom's pc after a PSU bump...

looks like your having alot of fun doing the work. good upgrades. it does suck that your 550 stutters alot. can you exchange it for a new one and see if the issue still exists? also this might help you out quite a bit as you continue to tinker with your pc. your win 7 home premium key will work with either 32 bit or 64 bit win 7 home premium discs. and there is website that hosts the legitimate ISOs of win 7 that require only a cd key to work, which you already have. you can dl the ISO image and burn it to a dvd using imgburn and reformat to the 64 bit and your key will work great.

That's a Sempron, i.e. you can expect 1/3-1/4 the power consumption regardless and the A880G+ should have no problem with it tongue.gif

Haha, thanks for the link. Though, my OS is a 32-bit OEM version, and I have concerns that it might not be compatible with the ones in the links. Also, I do have my dad's OS installer, which is a 64-bit OEM version of the Win 7 Home Premium. Is it possible if I use my dad' disc to install the 64-bit version and then use my own 32-bit key, since both of them are OEM?

yes, it will easily work. plus if you can access your dad's home premium 64 bit disc what i would do is use imgburn and rip an iso image and then burn a copy of it for yourself and store the iso image somewhere in a file folder labled win 7 home premium 64 bit and then if you ever scratch your burnt dvd you can reburn easily, however the mydigitallife.com linked isos will also work with an OEM key. just match up home premium to home premium or professional to professional.

Ah, thanks for the response. biggrin.gif I might not upgrade my OS yet for now, since I am waiting till I get the new mobo. As for the plan of my sister's pc build, as of now here are the specs I am aiming for...

Name of machine: Project Reisen

Mobo - Gigabyte GA-970-D3 (Once I get my hands on the Asrock mobo)
Processor - AMD Phenom II X4 960T Black Edition
RAM - G.Skill DDR3 2 x 2GB 1600MHz Kit
GPU - Palit GTX460 1GB
PSU - Seasonic M12II M620W Modular 80+ Bronze
HDD - Seagate Barracuda 500GB SATA
ODD - LG DVD-/+RW 24x
OS - Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
CPU Cooler - Coolermaster Hyper 212+, OR, Coolermaster GeminII M4
Casing - Coolermaster Elite 360

I might reconsider getting the 2 x 4GB ones for RAM, but as for now, it stands. And yes, After some thought, my family doesn't really need the gimmicks of the Professional and Ultimate. So, how do you guys and ladies think of the proposed build? Will the Elite 360 do justice in keeping the system compact? Please do note that Silverstone casings are out of the question as they're really pricey here in Singapore. Myself, I would have gotten the Antec NSK 1480 for one of my mini builds, but it's shelved for the time being (Well, not really, the Antec casing was actually supposed to be part of my dad's HTPC build, until the gaming part came in, aka that GT440).

And down the road, I do plan to surprise my dad by swapping the GT440 for a GTS450, or a GTX460 as a birthday gift. By then he'd wonder why his HTPC could run NFS: The Run at high settings, haha.

Ah, that's a nice one, but there's some thing though. Newegg does not deliver to Singapore. And I am intending to buy an Asrock 990FX Extreme 4 to replace my machine's current mobo, the Gigabyte GA-970-D3. I'll take note of the VRM cooling if the 960T unlocks. In that case, I'll go for the GeminII S524 for my sis' CPU cooler.
