About to pull trigger on 120hz 27"

I have been reading and reading and everything points to the Samsung s27a950d.

1. How bad is the glossy screen? I literally sit right next to a window. I can rearrange my set up (not really an issue at all) but will it still be an issue? This room is pretty small and has an overhead light. The gloss is really my only/biggest concern.

2. Is it possible to use the s27a750d @ 120hz with an nvidia card? If I bought some sort of adapter would it work? I really hate the 950d stand.

3. It seems like this is the only viable 27" 120hz right? I read the asus vg278h backlight issues and they arent even selling that in the US right now.

this is how my setup is. I assume this will be a big issue with the glossy screen?

Yeah since you have a window that close i would not get a glossy screen. 120hz will work with Nvidia but not sure if it will work with the build in 3D conversion or if Nvidia 3D vision is supported by the monitors. As far as i know if the monitor does not say 3D Vision Ready then it cant do 3D the way Nvidia wants.

SO i'm pretty much limited to either waiting for a new 27" 120hz to come out or rearrange this room? Sucks that this is the only decent monitor in this size range.

If you don't mind the price tag this has everything you need. biggrin.gif

never trust newegg user reviews, check out some real reviews. just sayin rolleyes.gif

Edit:
Sent PM cause I didn't know if you were monitoring this thread anymore. redface.gif

Edit 2:
Something I tell myself when I'm researching a purchase is, If a device (in this case a monitor) is to be marketed it "Must" achieve it's purpose as a product regardless of price or quality of components used in the process. Sure reviews may "dog" a product for defects but this is bound to happen with every product. I never put down a potentially good product because of someones or multiple peoples "Bad Luck" Ex: Stuck pixels, dead pixels, missing components etc. This is bound to happen regardless of brand or price. This Idea is especially true when considering a widely accepted brand. If all the monitor in this case were manufactured horribly then nobody would buy them cause the point of the product(s) would be void. Just my two cents. wink.gif

Oh I'm basing that off of multiple forums. Even this forum has a thread that says don't get it. I might just switch the room around. I heard glossy screens look really nice if you can keep the lighting under control.

If real reviews and the good people of OCN condemn it then by all mean avoid it. It's bad voodoo if OCN condemns it. thumbsupsmiley.png

And they all seem to praise the 950d. I think I'll make it my choice and finally rearrange this room to be in a corner away from light. All in the name of gaming.
