Now when I am installing my games and other software, When it tels me to choose a destination installation folder, am I choosing the folder I created in Program Files(x86)? Or am I choosing the D:/ drive? That is where I am still unsure. The question has answered a few of my questions, but lost me on a few others.

Oh, ok, So no mirroring or any of the fancy tricks needed then. Its as simple as partitioning and creating folders in the new partition? That simplified things a TON. And I know I will be re-installing everything when I redo windows later today.

IDK, i'm just not one of those who likes to partition their disks much lol.

well yea, I guess when it comes to certain things I am a bit of an organization nut. You have no idea how bad it was when it came time to do some cable management haha. And so its the organization factor and also Figured it would make things easier when the times comes to get an SSD.

True, when you get the SSD most of your info will be on the one partition (D:) and you can just delete the OS one!

Yea, I'm really tired atm, didn't really comprehend your posts before i read them 3 times. lol

Now i don't know why you are making that Programs (x86) folder. Is it part of a guide? You can just make folders on D: after you partition and set it up that way. Then when you install a game or program you want on the D: partition you just swap the drive letter from C: to D:

Also, one thing people forget to do a lot is to save their gamesaves before they reinstall, so save yours!

well the creation of the folder in program files(x86) and mirroring was in the guide video posted originally. So that is what I was going off of. But if its as simple as just creating folders in the newly partitions D:/ drive and installing everything there. Then that's what I going with. However I will be taking advantage of a few of your offered tweaks to help performance and space!

Ok, I went ahead and did everything I wanted to. Re-installed windows, partitioned all of my drives the way I wanted. Success...........partially.

I have yet another issue right now. I went ahead and changed SATA ports 1-4 to run in AHCI Mode. As my hard drives are connected to port 1 and 2. I left SATA Ports 5-6 running in IDE mode as that is just my optical drive. The problem I am having is that Sata ports 1-4 and the deviced connected to them(i.e my hard drives) are not shown or recognized in BIOS. Whats going on here? I am able to boot into window perfectly fine. So far no issues with the OS other than 2 random hang-ups I had when windows just froze up and didnt want to respond. Here are a few screen shots of what I am seeing in the BIOS.

Main Page....notice theres no SATA ports 1-4

Anyone have any ideas? Are my hard drives not about to run properly in AHCI mode? Or is this normal? Like I said I noticed that windows did hang up twice right after a fresh install. One of those times was when I was installing my anti-virus software and the other was just random.

please help! Should I re-install windows again and just keep everything in IDE mode?

Well since you run the OS fine it is running properly. Not normal to not show up I think, I never had that issue.

Leave as is. Windows is not affected.

Looks about right to me. Can you run them not short stroked?

here is a shot of the samsung F2 1TB with no short stroking..How do these numbers look?
SamsungHDTuneNoSS.jpg

I am having a hard time getting a decent benchmark of the Caviar black as it is my OS drive. And with windows and other programs running I seem to get spikes or read and write that drop the benchmark numbers. Ill post it up as soon as I can get an accurate test though.

I also had another system lockup last night. Windows just froze and stopped working. Couldn't do anything but reboot the pc. I Restarted the pc and ran memtest86+ and all check out fine with that. I have a feeling that when my GPU gets back from RMA I'm going to be doing another re-install of windows with the drives in IDE mode.

And does anyone else out there have any ideas as to what may be going on?

Can you also open AS SSD and post a screen shot of both your HDDs with it open? Do not run it, it is not made for HDDs and will take for ever lol. Just put up a screen shot of it open.
