Asus X79 Series Information Thread (drivers, BIOSes, overclocking) **UPDATED 4/22** - Page 2

Great thread! This can definitely help in some tweaking and I like the additional firmware updates.

I have a request re BIOS modding.

I have 2x e5-2687w ES that are not supported by my Z9PE-D8 WS microcode. Can anyone add support? They work in my P9X79 PRO, so I am thinking that just adding all missing microcode from between those two BIOS'es is needed--right?

Goggling to perhaps attempt this on my own, but obviously more comfortable with someone that actually does BIOS modding ;p

Thanks!

Hi, I don“t know if I am in the correct forum, sorry if not.

But somebody knows how to disable on board sound for the P9X79 Deluxe, I am planning to buy a X-Fi sound card.

Thanks!

It should disable itself automatically if you use a discrete sound card but you can disable it manually by going to Advanced → Onboard Devices Configuration.

@SimpleTech, Thanks a lot, I was thinking that "Azalia HD Audio" only disabled the front panel audio.

Hey

I have the p9x79 pro motherboard. I was wondering how you guys are installing the Intel Management Engine Driver: 8.0.10.1464 chip-set drivers On Win7 X64. When I run them I'm getting the following error: "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software.". I do have .NET 3.5 and .NET 4.0 installed (full install, not just client versions).

Also, I really like this motherboard but I had to RMA my first one. After about three months of owning it, the raid controller started to flake. Also, it sucks that this board doesn't take 32gb of http://www.corsair.com/vengeance-16gb-dual-channel-ddr3-memory-kit-cmz16gx3m4a1600c9.html

Those are older, 9.3.0.1019 vs. 9.3.0.1020

Apparentely X79 hasn't updated to MEI version 8 yet. So install 7.1.21.1134.

I'll update the OP later.

I have the Asus P9X79 Pro and i cannot install any RST driver Version 11.1.x or 11.5.x. I have to use the RSTe Version 3.0.x or 3.1.x.
The X79's use RSTe since that is what is on the X79 platform. However you can force the install of the RST drivers once in Windows.

Nice thread. Didn't even realize there was a new bios since I last checked the Asus site.
