I just dont get what should be done because the "manual" is not precise enough for my taste.

Let imagine I want to update my BIOS from Version 1XXX.

I use one of the methods to "install" this file (SABERTOOTH-X79-CAP-Converter.ROM).
This has not updated the BIOS just added (???) the converter to the BIOS.
AND THIS PROCESS DID NOT DELETE THE OLD BIOS.
(Hopefully)
Then I could use one of the methods to actually UPDATE my BIOS using the provided file (SABERTOOTH-X79-ASUS-2002.CAP)
And hopefully this process did not delete the converter.

It sound simple but I am really afraid (not scared biggrin.gif), if I put that converter thing on my BIOS chip
that it erases something and I cant boot or render the mobo useless.

Thank you very much for your help in advance,
Eiht@bios_version1104

I've already converted mine...

I am missing the update of this information thread. Last update was 6/22.

There is a new BIOS 2002 for this board since 2012.07.27.

Changelog

1. Improve system stability.
2. BIOS structure changed from .ROM to .CAP for Windows 8 full-functionality.

*If your BIOS version is 1203 or older, please install the BIOS Converter and then the converter will update BIOS to 2002.CAP. The BIOS Converter is available in the BIOS

What is the old BIOS and new BIOS versions ? You may need to run the CAP converter.

I was on 2002 and tried to install 2104 http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_2011/P9X79_PRO/#download. I'm going to go try again (downloaded it again)..

I got it to flash. I had to unblock the bios zip first. It must be checking the security settings that were applied from the internet zone.... This bios update adds many new boot options like fast boot that were not in the 2002 bios...

2002 BIOS is very buggy, as soon you converted it. Head up to 2104, this BIOS is super fast due it feature Fast Boot mode option. Check it out in the BIOS.

All Z77 board has this features this is why I was confused why my friend's PC I just built him boot up 12 seconds and mine took 40 sec.

I have updated from BIOS 2002 to 2104. Now I have the problem, that everytime I start my PC I get a CPU fan error. I have to use F1 to get setup. But everytime I click to F1 my PC starts Windows 7. Is there another way to get into the setup.

Because you don't have a fan connected to the CPU_FAN head? You can set to ignore that in the "Monitor" tab.

Connected to the CPU_FAN is the Scythe Katana 4. He runs with 1004 rpm.

I will do so, if i can go into the UEFI-Bios.
