Grey import Canon 600d

Im thinking of buying a grey import version of the Canon 600d from Digital Rev, i've seen their youtube channel, read about them online and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with them?

I've paid for a 550d from Dixons but will cancel the order to get this
http://www.digitalrev.com/product/canon-kiss-x5-eos-600d/MTExMzc_A

Its £446, over £150 cheaper than Amazon.

I realise this is because its an import etc and you dont get Canon warrenty, but they will provide a 12month warranty with it. I also planned to get a squaretrade warranty anyway.

Good idea?

550D and 600D are essentially the exact same camera, with the latter's only real bonus feature being the swivel screen. If that's a dealbreaker, by all means pop for the 600D, but know you're not gaining anything else (besides a slightly chunkier body).

Yep very very slightly.

But if i can get the 600d grey import cheaper than the 550d UK retail, why not right?

If the warranty issue doesn't bother you, sure. Personally, Canon's got a good enough QC track record in recent years that it wouldn't be an issue for me. Plus, it allows a few more bucks in your poscket for a card, bag, etc.

I'm curious though; is there no 550D grey import available?

That's actually a very good point, and based on the listed price of the 600D you could save a huge bundle by going grey on what's, again, essentially the same camera.

Eh, personally, I'd rather grab the 550D and use the difference to fund a 50mm f/1.8. Primes are <3

That doesnt make sense. A 600d for the price of a cheap 550d is well worth it considering the 600d is £150 more than the 550d normally.

A 550d (even grey import) is around £420 and the 600d grey import is £445, for an extra £25 you get a swivelly screen, well worth the jump. That £25 can be put toward a 50mm 1.8 lens, but leaning toward the 1.4 anyway.

You don't find that minor price gap to be a little suspect?
