Planning for a Xaiadder

I'm interested in doing this because I need side buttons on a mouse with a good mechanical scroll encoder. I have a Deathadder 3G v2 laying around which I was going to use for a Kinzuadder, but it's too small and it has no side buttons. The Xai and Sensei are similarly priced, but it looks like it'd be a pain getting the LEDs in the Sensei to work correctly.

The Zowie AM has a crap scroll encoder, the the sides are /_\ which I can't stand, and retarded hard switches (I hate the ones on my EC2). The Kana is either in gloss and I'm not a fan of what they did with the rubberized black one; not to mention the sensor is kinda weird in it.

My plan is once I get a hold of a Xai, I'll be taking the bottom plastic plate and recreating it in Autodesk Inventor/Solidworks as a 3D model, then modifying the sensor lens area so it will fit the dimensions of the Deathadder lens. I'll be using a 3D printer service through Shapeways so it's not insanely expensive, otherwise I could get it CNC milled out Acrylic or Delrin if I wasn't satisfied with the results.

I know people have attempted to do this and butchered the inside of their mouse, but what I'm wondering about what were other issues besides than the dimensions of the sensor lens?

Attaching the side buttons is possible I guess, it's just that the Xai PCB will need to be hacked up like in this video.

In the Xai, you'd have to do a lot more hacking to make to make the thing work. Additionally, it'd be an ugly mess under the hood.

If you're real industrious and really want to do it, attaching the thumb button wires is the least of your worries. That's actually a pretty simple task and the Xai top pcb fits cozily with the deathadder.

You dont understand its not simple to make Xaiadder.
Dont think its as simple as that video.
Anyway good luck if you gonna do it.

The lens shouldn't be a problem at all.
Just make it plane on the bottom of shell and glue the lens of the DA on it.
I would be worried of others thing way more.
Like if the sidebutton-PCB will still fit with a DA-PCB underneath it.

Thanks for answering my question regarding what I need to be concerned about.

Alright, I'll see if I can borrow a Xai from one of my friend to look at it.
