I would keep it at 512-1024MB as some programs wil freak out if you don't have some sort of pagefile
post #3 of 22
Set it as 1024 MB thats all you need. Some programs will not work without a page file. That is what I use with 8GB of ram.

Set to 400MB - 1GB, that is all. I've had both disabled and enabled and it is always better enabled.
I have a 60GB SSD, and I need all of the space I can get, so I set it to 450-500MB, and it works fine. And I only have 8GB of RAM. But I agree with the rest of the posters, some programs just need a pagefile.

Yes. Windows 7 likes to have a page file. So do some applications. Just set a small one.

You have loads of ram. Set up a RAM disk and put your pagefile in it.
That's what I did anyways... maybe that's why I have 7.9 HDD in WEI (useless, but fun).

That's why the maybe... I'm not sure that helped.
Still, I'd rather have my pagefiling on a ramdisk... reducing disk access, no matter how rare, is cool with me. (I have no use for that much ram anyways)

Hey, I tried the ramdisk thing with no improvement still have a 5.9 HDD WEI. Scrap the ramdisk I'm just going to set it to 2 gig min and max and call it good I cant see why windows would need almost 25gig for a page file when i have 16 gig of ram....

stay tuned......... thumb.gif
