why is 1 core of my FX-8150 CPU running at 80, 90 % at idle all the time ??

built this system about 2 weeks ago everything is working great !! one thing i noticed is that there is always one core of the 8 core that is always running at 70 to 90 % when my pc is at idle !! Now if i look in task manager and go to processes, there is one that is called system idle process, image name i guess its called and the description of it is this (percentage of time the processor is idle) !! there is a number beside that and its between 80 and 90 all the time !! its really anoying, do i need to learn to live with it or can i stop it ?? it wont let me end the process either !! does anyone know what i'm talking about ??

I'm pretty sure that's just Windows doing its thing. Can't end it because its Windows, you're trying to end something by using the thing you're ending (if that makes sense). Windows apparently just wants to stack on one core to allow the others to do whatever you want.

Having the System Idle Process using 80-90% of your CPU is a good thing ... it means that that 80-90% is readily availble should there be any real work to do. thumb.gif

found what was making my CPU work overtime when my PC was idle !! i had added a drive meter for my SSD drive, its a widget a had installed. For some reason it used a lot of one core of my CPU don't know why but i removed it and it solved my problem !! again thanx for the help !!

it's normal, that process represents the available CPU resources left of your system smile.gif

Yeah i know that now..... but one core of my processor itself was working 90% of the time wich was not normal at idle and it was my drive meter program doing that !!.....i uninstalled it and now at idle my processor bearlly goes up to 2 or 3% and the idle process is almost to 100 witch means almost 100% of my cpu is availleble at idle !!
