It so deep down it wouldn't of even been noticed. we had a 7.0 that was 30kms deep and that was even deep enough to only cause damage close to the epicenter, for mass destruction it needs to be about 10kms or less deep.

Japan is just asking for another terrible day from mother nature.
Poor people, I would be terrified you live in Japan.

I'm an historian by profession and that just bugs me. If you have a channel that suppose to be about history don't put shows that have no historical value whatsoever. And the whole prophecy of the end of the world is just a trend meant to sell us products and create general hysteria. The Nostradameus Effect show is the most annoying one out of them, they take every historical event as being proof of the End of the World, mainly because the predictions from Nostradameus are so vague and can be associated to many historical events that happened over the centuries.

Anyhow, back to the subject. I'm really impressed how the general structures in Japan are completely unaffected by a 7.1 earthquake, when we had a 5.1 here a couple of years ago, a great number of buildings had to go through renovations because of faults in the structure. Good to hear everyone is safe.

Well it's sorta like the quake that happened on the east coast. Since we don't really get quakes that actually do anything, our buildings are not built for it. So when it does happen, we're screwed. Same thing with tornadoes. NYC isn't built for tornadoes in mind. And if one did some how magically happen, NYC would be royally screwed beyond belief.

Come on now don't bash the Alien guy. I love that show a lot. And most of it's true. Space is a HUGE universe. As for Earthquakes. That has been going on for years especially in Japan area. They are VERY close to a active place. It's not their fault. They could always relocate the city somewhere a bit further but it's not like they got no choice. I'm sure they're prepared.

Actually it is indeed their "fault".

I see what you did there rolleyes.gif

I'm kinda glad that I live in Finland, since there are no major faultlines around here. But then again, there's a lot of other stuff that makes me want to move somewhere else. Every nation has it's issues... Sure am glad that I don't live in Japan though. I wouldn't like the earthquakes too much, and life there is quite hard, I would imagine, as chances of landing a proper job are quite slim.

I wonder what do the Japanese think of Finland and other northern countries in Europe? Would they think that things are good back in Japan but bad in Finland? Did I get a bit off-topic? Eh, I don't know.
