Yeah, its still an upgrade. it will bottleneck but he is also only wants to play skyrim. he will still get ok frame rates.

I'm sorry buddy but the money you spent on that gpu should have been saved for a better cpu+mobo setup. I wish the best for you and your new card but don't expect much from a D820.

No point of buying a good gpu if you only use 30-40% of it,is it? Then it will be just a waste of money,hehe:-)

Honestly you are throwing away your money on a 550ti if you are pairing it with a Pent. D 820. Try looking for a used card such as a 5570 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131342 or save up for a new system.

None of us know if he plans to upgrade in the future.

OF course if he never plans to upgrade, yea the 550ti is way overkill. lol. But really just about anything is.

But we all upgrade at some point. So, yea the card could be fine till he gets a new mobo, cpu, memory combo.

Yes, i realize that what I sayed was a dump thing to say! Even dumber when i realized that he wrote 550ti and not 560ti. hehe. But 2x550ti would be a decent grafic soulution, even in a year or two, right?

Should be, I mean look at my 4870s in xfire. THey have held up for 4 years now. I can run bf3 in ultra alll and medium details. This at 50 fps. 1680x1050. So, he should be good. Maybe even go 560ti to be a bit better in the future.

thanks guys, I will get a decent upgrade later this year (CPU, Motherboard, RAM, Case, hard drive). I just wanted to play Skyrim:), and I don't think that on-board graphics would suit that game. I don't think that it was a waste of money.
