Im no expert, but i belive that skyrim doesnt requiere very good cpu, mostly it is the gpu that does the work, isnt that right? My phenom b50 and gtx 460 768MB plays it on utltra ++( tweaks) but only 4x aa. And a gtx 550i performs about the same as 460 768, or is that wrong folks?

Correct. As it is a single player game it is more gpu dependent.

It is most certainly *not* always true that single-players games have low CPU demands.

Skyrim on Ultra settings requires a TON of CPU power ... in part because it only uses 2 cores with any level of effectiveness. Even w/my i7@4.0GHz, there's places in the game where the CPU BN drops my FPS into the 30-40 range.

I would also point out there's a mod for Skyrim that helps lower the CPU demands about 25% by making the code run in a more optimized way. It's an SKSE mod, and the .dll file is called TESVAL.dll. I don't have the link handy but it should be google-able ... highly rec'd for anyone running the game ... I use it myself and it does increase the smoothness nicely wink.gif

in all fairness i didn't say always. Skyrim is definitely less CPU dependent than bf3 is all im saying. Where as bf3 uses all 4 cores on my processor at 100 percent. And textures are still medium.

I understand your point, but in the end there are far less people actually create things for you cpu to process in skyrim. Where as bf3 there is up to 64 different people creating maaaaayyy hem for your cpu to calculate out.

Skyrim slaughters my 2600k @ 5.0 GHz (two cores active turbo) GPU usage hovering between 50-70%
In BF3, my 6950s run full-bore at any time.

Yeah, BF3 sure is more CPU-heavy than the shoddy port that is Skyrim.

Why do people have to be so offended so easily. Why do I even try and help? My bad. My goodness.

Im not crapping on Skyrim. I just didnt think it was the exception to the rule.

You really need to loosen up.

Not trying to get on your case brother, I'm just a stickler for precision in language is all wink.gif. With the way you phrased it, the 'always' was implied. So I was just clarifying that it's not any universal rule the single-player games are at all times 'gpu-dependent' ... there's lots of single player games I get CPU BN's when playing. Skyrim's just a recent example.

Just clarifying man ... keep up the good work, helping people out on OCN ... don't want you to think it's not appreciated thumb.gif

i tried but i didnt notice 1 fps diffrence..any idea why? perhpaps i didnt install in correctly? Alittle strange that i think, because all the other mods worked when i installed it.

Edit: Stop fighting :-P
