I've got an old Geforce 7500 Le, sitting in a box and I'm just wondering if it is better than my on-board AMD 760G.
Does anyone know this?

Didn't you buy the gtx 550ti? Cant help you whit an answer there.

But, have you thought of unlocking up the last 2 cores on the cpu? should make it 7.3-7.5 or something in windows, hehe.
what VRM cooling do you have on that mb? I looke at some info xd_1771 has provided about the subject, and from what i can find there your mb should handle opening up the 2 cores. But pm him to be sure, im sure he dont mind!

Edit: Hum. Your mb got 3+1 phase system, witch may cause some problem. Im not sure though. How are your air flow in your case?

Misleading, no pentium D is quad core, they are all dual core, or single core with HT, it is near impossible to get 7.5 with a pentium D due to the small amount of cache.

the 760G onboard is equivalent to an ATI HD3000 card.
It should be a bit faster than 7500LE.

It will run skyrim for now at lowest possible settings so you still need to buy a videocard.
an HD6670 or Geforce GTS450 would be a good start.

No, I didn't have enough money.

I've heard that you can't unlock cores from Athlon CPUs, only from Phenom CPUs.

I'm not sure what VRM Cooling is, but here is a link to the product page.

And something else, my DVD drive is IDE rolleyes.gif , So my next upgrade is to get a SATA dvd drive, unless there is a SATA to IDE adapter.

According to google the x2 260 is near impossible to unlock, also the small amount of cache comes into play, if you have a quad core with only 2mb of cache, it is not really going to give a performance boost, the main boost of a CPU is the amount of cache it has. L1 is the fastest type and L3 is the slowest.

I know for a fact that this prosessor often can unclock to an phenom II x4 b5(dont remeber last nubmer).
That would give you 4 cores, whit 2 mb l2 cache, and 6 mb l3 cache i belive.

EDIT. It seems i may be wrong in the cache question, hehe.
