Help!! computer keeps shutting down

Thread Starter
Ok so my buddies pc keeps turning off by itself after maybe 10 minutes and with load.

The temp is around 60 C in the CPU, which I think is fine. It's an Intel Celeron 430, stock.

So now....
The computer will start up and the windows logo will come out and will have the little loading thing with the three bars going across. Then after that screen goes away it restarts itself and does it again, ad again.

I need to fix his computer tommorow, is there anything I can do?

Thanks,
Jason

Format it and put a fresh copy of windows on it or.
Do what i did change the psu it most likely is the culprit.
why i think this is because you say on load it restarts so basically not enough power.
(Example) what happens when you overclock to much and don't give the vcore enough juice
wont boot right because booting windows uses 100% CPU at start but i think the PC is being squeezed of energy.

Take a look at that heatsink, make sure it's seated correctly and most importantly that it's clean.

I have a very similar setup, except I have a 2.4 ghz prescott celeron, and I get about 50 full load.

You should be idling around ~30-40 degrees celsius, so check it out for sure.

Try a cmos reset aswell if the above doesn't help, and if it still doesn't work it could be a Mobo/PSU problem, most likely the latter.

Sounds like the MBR is corrupted, you might be able to do a repair on it, if not then a reinstall is in order.

Also make sure its being cooled properly, if its 60c. on idel then its way too high.

I also think it is a psu problem.

I have experienced these symptoms when a cooler master 600w psu I had suffered a slow and painfull death.
