Final CPU upgrade for my 939 board

Thread Starter
I am starting to do more multi-tasking, but I want a fast proc. I am looking at either an X2 4800, or biting the bullet and going as far as an FX57. I heard the brute speed and integrated memory controller of the FX can handle multiple tasks just as well. Any advice? This is a major investment for me, (and probably more money than I should even think about spending.)

Don't waste your money on the FX57, if anything, get a dual core.
Not bad at all...

FX's are too pricey, I have one & a X2-3800 both are great overclockers but not up to par with the newer systems out now. right now I'm trying a E6600 conroe which is were everything is heading to now. I payed $650 cpu, MB, and ram. compared too what you will be paying for the FX is not worth it, in price and performance.

I agree with charlie on this one, the extra cache will do you good in time to come
