What should i do with my budget?

Should i futureproof myself with a p5b mobo with a bad cpu.

case - $30 - power up

psu - $90 - antec truepower 2.0 430w

mobo - $200 - asus p5b

cpu - $64 - intel celeron d 326 64bit (2.53ghz)

vid card - $148 - x800 xl

= $532

..or just get a descent mobo with a desecent cpu

case - $30 - power up

psu - $90 - antec truepower 2.0 430w

mobo - $123 - asus a8n-e nf4 ultra

cpu - $149 - amd athlon 64 3700+

vid card - $148 - x800 xl

= $540

My budget = $565

Any other suggestions would be fine!
(Those are in canadian dollars btw)

If you are looking for something to hold you over you could buy a cheapo Dell, you can not build it any cheaper then them. You can get a basic tower setup for under $300. The only drawback I see is the memory is comes with, only 256MB. I would look at a decent 1GB kit (2x512MB) or whatever it supports for under a $100, or your current memory would be compatible. You could sell some of your current components and you will be way under those setups you are looking at.

Get a cheaper mobo like the gigabyte DS3 + celeron until you can afford a core 2 duo. And also get a cheaper graphics card until you can afford a decent one, as the X800XL won't get you too far in games today.
