By how much do SLI and Crossfire increase frames?..

Thread Starter
Hi guys

I'm wondering, it's cool and everything to have two GFX cards very geeky lol but by how much do having both increase frames?

if anyone wants to chime in with their frames for specific game and how it worked for them.. i'd really like to hear what it actually did for you.

my single GTS 450 OC's really good..really. and i am now a little bit of a Palit fan.. i get 30 to 40 frames on most games* and sometimes a lot more like..

Bioshock 1 i get a solid 60fps

Bioshock 2 solid 50

(an hour of testing later.....) I'm very tired ...but still want to throw this question out there.. how much of a performance boost do everyone get?

Crossfire in most cases seems to provide worse performance rather than better performance. I feel kind of evil when I say that, but it's sadly true. Definitely a very poor investment on my part.
It increased my frames by a lot in most games... I got 96% more frames in Heaven benchmark, ~95% in AVP, ~90-95% in Lost Planet 2, and something like 80% in crysis titles.

This! Although I have inbuilt crossfire, an in crease in more than 100% fps, the gtx 570 gave me with most games. more smoothness than the HD 6990 ever did

the best you can get is double the framerate but it is rare in most case you will have like 70 to 90% increase i would says

It depends on your preference with gaming. Do you want performance or quality?

If you don't mind turning down the settings to get playable FPS then stick with a single card. If that doesn't cut it then you can invest into a better card. Back in the days...SLI/CF would help in the situations of large resolution gaming. This time it seems to be a VRAM issue but that should change within the next generation of cards. Here's a quick look at FPS on my GTX580 single vs SLI...

Single: 31min/52avg/61max
SLI: 36min/74avg/95max

Might not seem like much...but for my preference I like maximum settings with 60+FPS average.

Well, how long is a piece of string?

It depends on your setup, game, etc. And their is no set numver of how much it will increase....
I agree with -X3- with the % increase and I have 2 GTX 570's in SLI. Battlefield 3 I did not get to compare but I avg 90FPS with AA turned off.
