need help getting my system oc'd:( (little oc achieved:D)

Thread Starter
hello people on ocn,

im still a newbie here and i have been reading quite some threads now.
i believe you guys can see my system specs in the sig rig(although when i open it i cant see it or edit it)
i started off with flashing the vbios of my videocard to get it at higher clocks and it runs without trouble:)
i managed to get the ram at 1600 instead of 1333 so that should be nice to.
now the only thing left is the cpu i think and maybe squeeze some more out the video card(videocard should be easy as its still running stock black edition speeds)
as for the cpu i tried two programs to get it at a basic oc.
the programs are amd overdrive and easy tune 6 wich i downlaoded in the program section of my mobo.
when i run autotune in amd overdrive it finishes without problems but it doesnt show me the new speeds it could run or how i can aply them:(
when i run autotune 6 from gigabyte it always fails with a error:(
so im a little bit lost on how to begin and what i could get.
also as a newbie could some one tell me where i cna edit the sig rig i see to let it display my new speeds:)
thanks for tips and trics
with best regards
chris

you can edit your sig rig in the user control panel. overclock your 1100t in the bios using a combo of multi and reference clock. 18x and 220 will give you ~4ghz. thumb.gif

you may need a little voltage bump.

you will need to adjust your ram multi + ht multi, keep ht as near as 2k as possible, leave the nb overclock as that will give you a nice boost too. also AMD chips prefer timings to ram speed smile.gif

edit: do it in stages, increase things a little at a time...or do it balls to the wall and slap them settings right in there tongue.gif

keep an eye on temps (hwmonitor), max 62c on thubans (core temp is 10c off), you don't say what cooler you have...if it's stock DON'T OC, stock cooler sucks!

Your specs don't say what speed your ram is, or what you're using for cooling? I'm not an expert either, but I can tell you that all OCing should be done via the bios and not through windows. I'm betting by the way you stated it that your ram is 1333, and you've set it to 1600, which is probably where the error is coming from.

Plenty of 1100 fans here that will be posting better answers once they have the extra info...thumb.gif

thnak you verry much.
i will give this a shot and try to edit my rig to preview better what i have in my system
as for the cooler i have a scythe katana3 and 4 120mm case fans(two intake, two outtake)
i used nexus thermal paste with 30% silver in it(dunno if its useful but it says it big on the etiket:P)
also in the bios i set cpu warning to 60c (this is the lowest i can set it to) so that should be fine i think.
one more thing that is bothering me.
in the bios i can set turbo boost for the proc.
should i disable that as turbo speed is 3.7 setted by default.

edit: user control panel is something else then the my profile page?
when i look in the my profile page i cant find my setup:(

as mentioned above i use a scyhthe katan3 with nexus paste.
as for the ram i done that threu the bios and while gaming i have no problems with it at all:)
run a p95 test with it and also no trouble found for over 2 hours

It's toward the bottom of your profile page at the signature part I think.

When the FSB is adjusted up or down it changes your ram speed. When OCing you generally have to readjust the ram speed down so as to stay within it's range, hence the error in auto tune, it try's to up the FSB and your ram causes the error. I think I said that right...

btw.. you still didn't post your stock ram speed...

yeah it's at the bottom of your profile page (i had to go check tongue.gif)

I sense you have generic DDR3 RAM, that makes it harder to get it running at 1600Mhz and beyond due to low binning. Your best bet is to lower the clocks and tighten up the timings, which Phenoms' usually prefer.

Let's get you started off slowly. Disable turbo core and don't use software for OC'ing the CPU, the BIOS proves more stable and efficient. Always use both the FSB and multi and not JUST the multi. It's a a little harder that way, but you get higher stable clocks and is well worth the effort. Lower the multi to 15x and set FSB to 250Mhz. Set the CPU vcore to about 1.45-1.52. Manually lower the RAM to about 667Mhz and increase DRAM voltage to 1.65v. Make sure that the HT link is kept as close to stock as possible. Make sure that the CPU/NB frequency is 2500-2800Mhz and increase the voltage for the same to about 1.3-1.35v. If stable, increase the memory clocks till you hit the sweet spot (although i'd suggest tightening up the timings instead). Remember to go in for aftermarket heatsinks for the VRMs since yours is a bare 4+1 phase board. Don't increase the vcore to beyond 1.5-1.52 tops. Keep shy of 4Ghz and stick to 3.7-3.8Ghz at the most due to the TDP and VRM limitations of your board.

It's wise to keep cool n quiet enabled since that has no affect on OC stability. It helps save energy and prevent unnecessary heating of the VRMs and chip when the system is not under load.
