So, I got a new Microsoft Sidewinder X4 keyboard a couple of days ago, but it keeps bugging out on me when I type it flashes randomly it either doesn't recognize my input or repeats letters for no reason is this a broken keyboard or did I not set it up properly? It flashes all the time not just when I type.

is the system keep dropping it/reacquiring it? you would be getting the usb disconnect/connect sounds.
or you can look in the device manager to see if it keeps cycling through connect/disconnect
if it is, it could be a power issue. if you are connected through a hub the hub may not be supplying enough power...try connecting straight to the pc to see if it still happens

Nope no sound and it doesn't connect/reconnect in the device manager. It is also connected to the back of the PC so no hub issues. It just flashes randomly sometimes every 3-4 seconds sometimes it can take up to 10 seconds in between.

Never mind I fixed it it seems to have been some power output issue with the USB it was connected to since I had my mouse and remote control signal receiver connected on the top I just plugged it in one of my 3.0 USB's and it works like a charm now.
Thx for the help/tip sli_shroom.

glad it worked out for you. i have a couple keyboards act up (usually when connected through a kvm switch or a hub) and it is always because they are not getting enough power through the usb. come to think of it...they all had usb ports in them too, which is probably why they needed more power

I just started having the same problem as you on the same motherboard. Is this a known issue with this asus board? Randomly the usb ports start to bug out and the attached keyboard and mouse keeps losing connections and flashing thier lights. THe only fix is to restart the computer

Try using the different ports on the back of your PC. I plugged in my mouse in one of the top 3 USB ports while my keyboard is in one of the lower blue colored 3.0 USB ports, it worked out for me and I haven't had any issues since then. I hope that will fix that issue.

well sure I can use different ports but I would like a solution in which I can use the regular usb ports and not have to plug in a mouse and kb into a 3.0 port

I only plugged in the keyboard into a 3.0 USB the mouse is in a regular USB is worked for me and I really didn't matter to me, which port it went in since I have quite a few left over any way.
