Upgrading from dual 460 GTX setup - Page 4

i have SLI 460's on 870 clocks.

i can run BF3 on all options ultra (except textures, thats vram), 2x MSAA, and SSAO, and have about 65-80 fps. 1920x1080.

i dont think you need an upgrade, and even if you do, going from 460 to 560 isnt worth.

Well guys...the new hardware came in, unfortunately it didn't go as smooth as I would have hoped. I ended just wiping both my hard drives. I got it all up and running, but I'm downloading Battlefield 3 as I write this, so hopefully I can post again tonight on how things went!

Sell the 460's and purchase a 580 3GB I was running dual 460's 1GB 1920x1200 and was getting bad video lag on ultra in certain maps on Karkand. Now with my evga 580 3GB, I'm playing the same maps with zero stutter or lag. thumb.gif

i didn't read the entire thread as this came up as a google search but guaranteed you're gonna see FANTASTIC results if you're going with the 2500k. I upgraded from a 955 to a 2700k purely because I got a great deal on it and because the results of waiting for bulldozer was a HUGE let down. What I found was my 955 was actually bottlenecking my gpu's really badly. They were never above 70% gpu usage and now they're both running between 90-99% with 85% max dip in usage. Remember when running 2 gpu's you're gonna have much more stress on the cpu, which is why upgrading to 2 560's wouldnt do you much good either or 6990 or 590 either in fact.

Well...I got everything running here is what I'm ending up with. PLEASE, let me know if there is anything else I might be able to mess with to get more performance out of these cards.406

and

to my understanding this is kind of a low overclock, but I'm not really sure what else to mess with. I tried to crank it up to about 840 and my machine started to crash.
I almost forgot to mention that the highest I've seen them get with this OC is the top card gets to about 80 C.
