I don't know the card, but you may not have all the physical hardware that is present on the 5870 (I know it's 5970, but they stripped parts off it for lower end), despite the clock to not cause a bottleneck
If your looking to bypass the "limited clock settings" read step two of this thread, I've been using MSI afterburner for over a year, never knew of it myself till the other day.

i dont like MSI afterburner, its just another unnecessary piece of software sucking up RAM, i wanna see how far i can push the driver =P and im sure the 5970 has enough hardware in it to push dual 5870 powers

It should hit 5870 clocks with ease., and I use MSI Afterburner as a replacement for CCC, a unnecessary piece of bloated software sucking up ram. MSI on the othe rhand uses 1MB... I have 8 gigs, I can more than spare that.

I tried changing core to 750 MHz but nothing happens, when i run a benchmark it's stucked at 725MHz.

Am i doing anything wrong?

Tried both CCC and Afterburner.

Shouldn't GPU-Z report the new overclock as well? GPU-Z still says 725MHz

Thats odd, unless your not hitting the apply button, or your bios is locked you should be able to adjust the clock on the fly with either of those programs. What is the Part Number? should be on the back of the card/Box. And the BIOS Version, and Subvendor? GPU-Z will display this information.

EDIT: Reading your sig, it's a XFX, although good quality cards/coolers, their bios's tend to be conservative. Let me know the info as well, and we might be able to get you in the right direction. My xfx 5850 bios's suck, and I went msi, and the cards are beastly now.

LOL i did a power consumption test on my system today, and with the 5970 running a furmark burn in test, and an i7 on prime 95, everything stock, the system pulled about 864W from the wall after 5 minutes of testing 0.o multiply by 78% efficiency, and i got about 674W of power. im actually really surprised that the Ultra LSP 750 managed to keep alive at 674W, even though i know if i let it run any longer its probably gunna fail, as it did start warming up. there is no way im throwing the second card on for tri fire, thats gunna really make that PSU go to hell, and thats before i throw in RAM fan, case fans, and lights, and making the HDDs work and my Fan controller.. ect... Phadarus's PSU calculator says i should be using a Quality 750W PSU if im going stock on the system with CFX 5970 and 5830:rolleyes: guess 5970 solo it is

I look at about 700-750 the lowest you want to safely go for multi-gpu setups. I got my 1000W as a refurb on sale for $40, so I can't complain about it at all. Might not be the best/most efficient PSU known to man, but it powers my setup without flinching. When I hit up tri/quad-fire I'll be looking at a better name brand. But for now it more than does what I need.
