Yeah the triggers tend not to help either on these things, it's quite a few pounds of resistance, and if your trying to be careful it's like the trigger pull goes on forever, then with almost no warning little click noise and it's going 100% speed and bucks some.

Spent like 5 min trying to find that picture, couldn't remember where I saw it, was all over tom's hardware trying to find it and came up empty.

Just buy the thing. 225$ for a card like that is a total steal. In early 2010, that was the fastest graphics card on the planet. Still is in the top 5. I got mine for 300$ off Newegg, and I can't be happier.

The 5970 is still my favourite card of all time, despite the somewhat lackluster scaling. I shall never sell mine!

i think its 540W on +12 volt rail, im currently running an i7 Quad core and a 5830 overclocked and it runs perfectly fine. maybe your unit was one of the one from a bad batch? either way if my PSU does blow up more then likely the system will shutdown in order to save itself, or go into a reboot cycle when it dont have enough juice i understand your concern, i dont like ultra's either, my LSP 650 took a dump on me when i stuck it in a machine with a pentium 4 and a low end quadro >.<</span>

PSU is fine.

I ran a 5970 off of an Enermax 525w with a 4GHz Phenom II quad for a few months with no problems. The 5970 was @ stock clocks though.

Yeah. A solid 520-525w should handle a 5970. NO OVERCLOCKING
Not enough power for that. If you want to overclock, get a 750w.
