Mobo help

Thread Starter
Hey Pros out there! My uncle just called me cause his computer wouldn't turn on. He told me he replaced the PSU supply but that didn't help. The PC wouldn't turn on AT ALL. So it's probably a short on the mobo. [Any other idea?]

So I'm looking for a mobo for him. Please help me to find a good and suitable mobo. He has a Gateway 550GR and these are the specifications http://support.gateway.com/s/PC/R/3725/3725sp3.shtml.

I've taken a look at this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813135023 but I'm not too sure. I am currently learning and working on my new rig too so this would help me learn, somewhat.

Please make suggestions on which mobos are good if possible. Thanks

Make sure you "jiggle the handle" on all your cables and ensure that your RAM and vid card are seated completely. Did he change anything else or notice any other problems before it stopped working?

AFAIK the Gateway and (I do know from experience) the dell cases are proprietary and won't accomodate aftermarket mobos so you may be looking for a new case as well.
