*Solved* After overclocking cpu-z still says 3.3ghz

Thread Starter
so i have tried to OC my CPU 4 times now to 3.8, 4.1, 4.5 using what ive read all over and yet everytime i get into windows and pull up cpu-z it always says 3.3 multiplier at x33

Yes i save bios after changes and im running a gigabyte Z68A board with an I5 2500k

but also i am new to OC this is my first ground up built PC so some help would be wonderful for anyone with a similar build im trying to get my 3.3ghz stock to OC at least to a 3.8 or 4.1 just enough to get something useful out of it.

Any help is appricated and thanks for even reading this, this is my first post and im hopeing its a positive one

does it matter im running an old windows XP 32bit , in a few days ill have windows 7 64 bit?

Have you disabled any power saving options in BIOS?

Sounds like you have OCed the cpu but its powering down at idle..

If you followed most tutorial they teach you to udjust the turbo multiplier. So when you go to windows it will still read as default speed, but if you activate a program or a stress test, the tubro will kick in to the multiplier you put in to. Run a stress test and check cpu-z at the same time.
