keep in mind you dont want to go that deep. and theres no reason for you to go that deep into the heatsink. unlike cpus which people try to get closer to the die.

200 grit is fine, I started with 180 grit. heatsinks frequently need a lot of material removed.

Hadn't thought of some closed cell styrofoam, I'm sure it would work well. I'll buy trying it out. Just make sure that you are static free the whole time.

Thats a good idea, i'll stop by Home Depot today and see if i can find some that is more static free and maybe something else to use instead, im sure ill find something, i have a $50 gift card for there so ill get whatever i can that will help me there. Maybe BestBuy would have some of the Black stuff laying around in the back that i could get from them, i wish we had a PC Store around here, there is nothing within 300 miles from here.
