My goal - Dual core + Nice mobo - Suggestions?

Ok so due to me almost turning 16 (woot! cant wait) im excited, but im not 16 just yet and ive tried gettin busboy jobs but they just wont accept anyone under 16 in my city. So i figured i should get my lawn mower fixed and mow lawns until i save up $200 for a 3800 x2 + This motherboard I wanted to get the DFI but i dont think im experienced enough and alot newegg reviewers say you shouldnt use it if your a rookie, and is not reccomended for a first time build. anyways can you guys think up other ways for me to get the money required for this goal?

Any suggestions appreciated

Umm, do you HAVE to go AMD? Cause teh E6300 is worth saving up for. AMD is practically screwed for the next two years.

For AMD, try the M2N4-SLI, I've heard it OCs well, is quite cheap and has SLI (for that huge sexy 7900GT ). Oh and definately go AM2.

But seriously, consider the "core".

Everyone is a beginner when their first DFI comes along, but they
soon learn to love it. The new DFI UT NF590 SLI M2 R/G is the new rage (but is for the socket M2).
I think the Biostar you have your sights on may be a bit limited.

I hear the Asus Crosshair is quite a beauty but then again its out of your price range. Abit has some good boards in your price range, so does DFI. Why go AMD though? I say save up a little bit more, for Core2.

The only reason is i'l have to replace RAM, Motherboard and CPU at the same time if i go AM2 or Core2, and i have a hard time keeping money in my pocket. but perhaps if i could find a nice mobo under 100 (doubt it), get an E6300 and a nice cheap Gig of (possibly G.Skill or XMS?) DDR2 RAM then i could keep it under $500?
If not i'l just go 939, because any more than $500 would be too much for me to keep in my pocket. And i dont care for a SLI board because il be going directx 10 soon and will be done with this mighty ol' 7900 GT and SLI DX10 cards is wayyy over my head, too much power for my pocket

Core 2 Duo:

MoBo: GA-965P-S3 Socket T (LGA 775) Intel P965 $116.99

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 Conroe 1.86GHz $183.00

RAM: G.SKILL 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) $149.99

Total: $449.98 + $7.71 shipping = $457.69

Go get that

Then, continue mowing, and add a second stick of that G.Skill RAM

And you do have a 17" monitor, so a single card would be just fine. This Core 2 rig with the 7900GT will rock until DX10

Chozart you never fail to let me down, REP+!
And btw i found this RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820231085
Its cheaper and i figure a little looser timings wont hurt cuz il be loosening them up when i OC this E6300 right?
Well, the tighter timings actually give you the option to loosen them to overclock. When they're loose already, you can't loosen them more to achieve higher bandwidth. The green G.Skill you listed will be fine at speeds of DDR2 800 and slighly above...but I don't think you can push it much over. The black one gives more headroom.

However, the green one will be just fine for you. I don't think the S3 will let you get too insane an overclock, so with RAM at DDR2 533 speeds, or maybe even DDR2 667 speeds, and a decent OC on the PCU, your system will rock.

For example, if your FSB is 350, your CPU will run at 2.45GHz, and if you set your RAM at DDR2 667, it'll effectively run at DDR2 878 speeds (I guess the green one might be up to that, not too sure.)

Oh i see, well is 2.6 Ghz on an E6300 way to much to ask?
Because il get the black if thats what it takes.

Depends on the motherboard also.

The RAM will easily let you 2.6, but likely you'd have to set it at DDR2 533 speeds (which is actually the 1:1 divider). FSB will be 372MHz, effective RAM speed will then be 743. If the motherboard will let you, you might even get higher.

You might consider the green G.Skill and the Gigabyte DS3 for $149.99 or the ASUS P5B for $146.99. That will end up with the same total as above, and a bit better motherboard.
