found it biggrin.gif
i saw the g skills too, maybee i'll go for these
wich one could i take best then?

making custom loops for the h100 i will do later maybe. because otherwise the warranty is voided
post #12 of 127
Nice looking setup.

Two things:
1) RAM choice really won't matter with your CPU of choice. Your stock RAM speed is DDR3-1333. Anything over that is an overclock (due to your IMC). Obviously, faster RAM will be better, assuming your CPU can handle it. Just grab anything 1600 and higher with decent timings. With the H100, you don't have to worry about RAM fitting under a bulky cooler, so anything will fit.

2) Modding your H100 can be fun, but its pointless. Best you could do is add a resevoir and a different radiator (still just a 240mm). Anything else, and it's too much on the weak H100 pump. You cannot cool your GPU with it with a GPU block, you'll kill the pump. If you want to later on tweak with proper water cooling, it'd be best to just bite the bullet and get proper water gear.

thanks a lot ! biggrin.gif
maybe a stupid question but, whats (due to your IMC)?

i whas thinking to take the g skil sniper
G.Skill DIMM 8 GB DDR3-1600 Kit (Light-Retail, F3-12800CL9D-8GBSR2, Sniper-LV-Serie)

Timings
CAS Latency (CL) 9
RAS-to-CAS-Delay (tRCD) 9
RAS-Precharge-Time (tRP) 9
Row-Active-Time (tRAS) 24
1,25 Volt tot 1,5 Volt

will this work with my amd x4 640?

for now the h100 work fine for me
after i will go for a custom water kit
IMC = Integrated Memory Controller. It's what will determine how fast your RAM can actually overclock to, and its built into your CPU, the Athlon II x4 640. If your CPU can't handle the higher RAM, it won't matter.

Any DDR3 should theoretically work. The Snipers are good RAM.

And honestly, I think your H100 is a bit overkill already. My Athlon II x4 630 never passed 55*C with a wimpy CoolerMaster Hyper 212+ at 1.55v.

i found this on the site of amd
Type of Memory Supported X2 - Support for unregistered DIMMs up to PC2-8500 (DDR2-1066MHz) -AND- PC3-8500 (DDR3-1066MHz) X3 and X4 - Support for unregistered DIMMs up to PC2-8500 (DDR2-1066MHz) -AND- PC3 10600 (DDR3-1333MHz)
so even if i take the 1600 ram my cpu will only see 1333, but if i upgrade in a couple of months en the new cpu does well support higher mhz then he will wel see that its 1600 ram ?

i know that the h100 is overkill, but i realy wanted a wc kit in my new rig so, i bought one to see the difference an i realy liked the look of it in the case biggrin.gif
i'm a noob with wc cooling and overlocking, thats why i'm learning here wink.gif

Upgrading the motherboard won't help, as the memory controller is on the CPU. You can, however...overclock your memory controller (called the Northbridge on AMD), and also overclock your RAM to 1600. Your RAM may be 1600 stock, but the memory controller is only 1333 stock. That doesn't mean that it can't hit 1600 stable though. wink.gif

my cpu supports 1333. and my mobo up to 2000mhz
but if i by in a couple of months a new cpu, that supports higher ram than it's ok
overlocking the nb doesn't sound like a good idea

The only CPU out that will take faster RAM by default is Bulldozer. No point honestly. Just overclock it. smile.gif And actually, overclocking the NB actually benefits you FAR more than overclocking the CPU. It increases the overall snappiness of your system. Also, your NB needs to be at LEAST 3x that of your RAM speed. So if your RAM is 800MHz (DDR3-1600), then your NB needs to be AT LEAST 2400MHz (2000 is stock). Most people can acheive anywhere between 2600-3200Mhz NB. With your Athlon, I'd say 2800-3000Mhz should be doable, somewhere in that range, along with a healthy CPU overclock.
