Evga GTX570 (SLI) or Something else? - Page 3

Since 580's and 590's are the high end of this generation with the new generation coming I've never seen them start with high end versions of the next generation meaning 580's and 590's will still be the highest preforming card on the market till the release of 70, 80 and 90 versions of the next generation. In other words it will take longer then 2 weeks for the price to come down considerably.

I didnt actually know how NVIDIA releases cards thanks for letting me know.

But the 7000 series card coming out in 2 weeks with a price of $550 ish.. is said to have a 20% preformance gain on the 580.

The 580 is about the same price.. so wouldnt NVIDIA drop price to compete?

Going SLI with 1GB of Vram is useless.

Even 1.2Gb is not enough for today's game.

You want minimum 2Gb in SLI.

Unless they change their typical game plan Nvidia's response will be the introduction of the new cards and you will not see 90's untill late 1Q early 2Q. Company's/venders like EVGA control their own prices and since they have the market cornered as far as customer service, reliability, upgrad-ability, and tune-ability I don't see them bending that quickly because of ATI. You don't have to take my word for it.

What is affordable tomorrow in sli will be useless in the near future too.
Considering what Vram actually does 480 stream possessors is more then enough for modern games specially for what the OP is interested in. Considering the nature of mmo's you wont be upgrading for a number of years since you will be playing pretty much one game during that time.
