Some applications need a page file, no matter what (photoshop is one).

2.5 GB Corsair?
Woah, thats alot of RAM.
Just turn your pagefile on at 2mb, and the max at 25-50 & it should work fine

Naw, the game requires 768mb of Page File or else it won't run. Stupid IMO..

this game can and will take up up to 1.6 gigs of RAM at once. Thats a LOT.

And BTW having a pagefile is okay IMHO. No big deal as long as you have >2G physical RAM. Sometimes some apps need to put certain kind of information somewhere, and these days resources like RAM would easily get filled up with 'miscellaneous' data, which your apps need to store somewhere, which ideally would go on your harddrive (why pagefiles exist). With no pagefile, Microcrap and certain applications would keep all the information on your physical RAM, which in turn would provide you with less RAM then you actually need to run your high end apps. Now heres the clincher... since a pagefile loads from your harddrive, this would be a cause for performance issues as SATA or IDE are not as high data transfer rate as DDR2 or DDR. So since a pagefile has to exist, the best idea is to put the pagefile on another drive not accessed by the operating system, preferably in a RAID O configuration and a 10000 rpm HDD. (Note I mean a different DRIVE altogether and not a PARTITION) The pagefile must exist, but if you have enough RAM it really isnt a big deal, since information stored on the pagefile would hardly be accessed anyways.

So do you guys want to see how your graphics card stacks up in this game. Check out a review on the performance of the game andhow it scales here. Pretty much tests all current generation cards from X1900 and 7900 down to lower 7-series. However, I am not sure if the "fps" they claim is Average, max, min (assuming not min).

make sure you get the latest patch. I have had some weirdo crash issues already with this game, and I dont think its my rig. The weirdest thing yet is when I have AA enabled, I start to get pink blobs on the screen that say 'BAD SPLAT' backwards. Looks like its stuck onto the terrain or something. Real weird if you ask me. I hope these problems go away with the 1.02 patch which Im d/ling right now.

The patch can be found here ------------>

Thanks for that. I think I need that... it's looking a little odd with Crossfire at first, although later on everything was fine.

Ok, patch not for demo version.. LOL

Still not stable. With AA disabled and everything else on high, now what the game does is cold boot real hard after 2 hours of gameplay or so. Still kind of weird, no error messages, nothing. Just a cold boot, after the audio goes buggo. Kind of like the error I saw with FEAR when it crashed when I had my rig OCed to 430 FSB. It POSTed and loaded Windows but clearly was not stable then. This game is still a week old, and Im hearing from many users on Relic that it may be just an issue with X1900 series cards. Something to do with shader model 3.0 or something. I hope they get it sorted out. This game is great otherwise!
