No. You're fine. Many of us here run or have ran 1.65v+ ram. They've been known to run up to 1.8v, not recommending that though.

Keep it at 1.65V and you should be fine; it's overvolting the RAM past that that can cause damage.

Definitely not. 1.65v is safe and can be used 24/7. G.skill actually have the sandy bridge optimized ram called "ripjawsX" which come at 1.65v
I've been using 1.65v on my 2600k since i got it when it released with no problems at all. Safe.

You're fine @ 1.65v RAM voltage (even 1.7v).... just make sure your CPU vcore is below 1.52v (anything past this will kill your IMC)

So in JoelG's case he would put the DRAM voltage to 1.65v instead of 1.5v?

I have those chips too and have had the DRAM at 1.5v and didnt have a problem.. I was having problems stablizing a 4.8 OC but didnt think it was the ram voltage.. I didnt mess up my chips did i?

Yeah that's correct, however running them at 1.5v would most certainly require loosening the timings. I don't think you messed up the chip, I would just leave the RAM running at stock settings as other's have mentioned, 1.65v is fine. thumb.gif

Could that of also been a contributor of why my 4.8 clock wasnt stable? I mean it booted, but blue screened during prime95. Couldnt read the error message it went too quick.

Thanks for the help!

Yeah definitely could be. You can test memory overclock in a number of way's, memtest, prime95, super pi 32m, hyper pi etc.
