My friend forgot to write down or remember the password he set on the bios menu on his acer aspire 5810tz, i've tried everything from touching two points on the mobo to reset it but nothing seems to work.

Isn't there also a CMOS battery that needs removing? On most desktops, anyway, if you pull the CMOS battery, it'll reset any BIOS passwords you have.

@OP
There should be a h/w switch under the ram. If not, have you tried BIOS_PW.exe?

This is a laptop isn't it?
How did you manage to reset it? Sometimes the CMOS reset works, and sometimes updating the bios will clear it, but many times the bios will retain information like passwords.
I have a number of Dell desktops that come with a jumper to reset the password and clear the CMOS, but I've never heard of that on a laptop. So now I'm interested

yeah that's what i thought at first, usually you just remove the battery and you'll be able to reset the password. But this is the insyde h20 bios, it's really good, there's a thing called "hardware, and Gap", this was the first time i came into contack with this kind of bios.
yeah but at first i thought i did it right then i tried it again and viola!! it worked!
