Fractal Designs Arc Midi with minor mods and super clean installation

Here's my most recent build. Not as complex of a modded system this go 'round, but these cases these days are so accommodating anymore. I did do my usual LED mod to my Optical Drive. I also sold and downgraded my whole water cooling setup to this. It was just too much overkill and so heavy to pack around. Enjoy! smile.gif

Pictures are apparently clicky for larger sizes now... thumb.gif

i like what you did with the inside dvd drive light,
have you thought about wiring the led parallel to the led on the front of the dvd drive?
just encase the light interferes with the laser that reads the disc, as it is constantly on.

Thanks! smile.gif Let me know if you need help. I made a how-to on LED wiring on here somewhere. I think it was for a Cooler Master Fan LED upgrade. I show you which resistors you might want to use.

EDIT: Here is that 230mm fan LED mod thread that shows how to wire the LEDs.

Sounds like a lot of work. I had a bright blue one in my last build; 10mm LED at that and it never bothered the reading laser.

Yeah that little LED mod is awesome. Little touches like that just make a PC look fantastic!

Man.. loving this build!

Set my GPUs to SLI rather than Graphics/Physics as before. Now the CPU is Physics only. Allowing for the GPUs in the GTX-460 2WIN to run true SLI! Runs 12C cooler now and the fans only go up to 70% now! thumb.gif Can't believe I didn't do this sooner! haha

It'll never happen. Especially with a RED LED. I had a huge LED bulb 10mm, I think in my other DVD drive and it was BLUE! Never had a problem ever. It worked for several years so far. And blue is far brighter on the color spectrum. RED is the dimmest on the color spectrum as far as any light that could possibly interfere. Plus the intensity alone is so far from even comparable to a DVD or especially a BLURAY reader. Those are lasers! NOT LEDs! There just isn't even any chance that any interference could arise from a little LED inside the case.

Check out some of the YouTube mods people are doing with these DVD and BlueRay lasers. Those things are so intense, it isn't even comparable to a little LED. rolleyes.gif
