is it possible to put an Intel pentium m 760 dothan 2.0 ghz in a socket 478 desktop board or does it have to be a special mobile motherboard

You need the ASUS ct-479 adapter. This adapter will only work in certain motherboards aswell. A dothan would make a nice and speedy desktop though. My laptop with a dothan running at 2.13 Ghz beats my pd 805 at 3.5 Ghz in super PI. Google "ct-479" for more info.

I have a 730 on an Asus P4C800-E Deluxe with a CT-479. It's a great combination. With the little stock cooler that comes with the CT-479, I have a 60% overclock running stable and cool. There are a few native socket 479 boards out there, but it will be difficult to find a the Asus combo mentioned above that will give you much of a better chance to push this CPU to its max.
