That's what everyone has said. The CPU is limiting the build here. Also Known As, a CPU bottleneck.

And the FX line wouldn't be capable of this feat... I wish it were... Heck, if it matched Sandy Bridge at stock clocks and left the insane power consumption issues as they are, it would be a blinding success. frown.gif AMD, please catch up...

well it seems the P preset is being limited by the fastest CPU available at 5.6ghz, well Intel, AMD is waiting...
Incredible performance. I too wondered about the CPU at 5.6Ghz. Was the CPU under LN2 as well? I thought it would clock into the 6+Ghz spectrum if it was. If not ,why go through all that and leave the CPU only moderately OC'd? /cough. biggrin.gif

This being a flat out extremety situation, might as well "punch it CPU & GPU".

OT: What's a meme? I know I'm old and all in my mid 40's rolleyes.gif , it's just I havent come across that one, yet I see it being mentioned as taboo by mods lately. I just want to make sure I don't do it....whatever it is.

Didn't he get the middle CPU-Z wrong? I think that's supposed to be the mainboard tab. Good thing HWBOT doesn't require that tab.

Post truncated in light of referenced post.

I wonder how these cards would perform in Vantage with an FX8150.

The first reason it would be terrible is because of quad fire scaling. Multi GPU systems scale atrociously on Bulldozer. The second reason that it would be terrible is that Bulldozer barely gets 35K CPU score around 5GHz, so it scores a bit worse than a 2600K clock for clock and significantly worse than 3690X clock for clock. There's a reason it's not used for records beyond CPU-Z. It can hit fancy frequencies but it doesn't bring the power with it.

Unfortunately SB-E hasn't made it much past 5.7GHz yet. I doubt we'll see it for a long time, too. SB and SB-E aren't very good cold clockers. The only reason you need to get them cold is to avoid killing them at these voltages. You don't actually get better scaling when they're cold.

Note: You just make a system to measure the amount of LN2 in the cauldron. When to level becomes too low, a system automatically feeds in the LN2 (like a toilet). Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't maintenance the only hindrance to LN2?

Somebody here already tried building a closed loop system, actually built a semi-closed system which is similar to some comercial solutions. In another thread he talks about building a truly closed system. I think taking a small performance hit and running a phase change unit with a more manageable refrigerant would be the best 24/7 solution.
