Why all the Bulldozer hate?!?

Thread Starter
Sorry if this has been asked already, I did look but couldn't really find anything.

But where has all the hate came from with the new Bulldozer chips? i've only just built my FX6100 system and am truly amazed how quick this system is especially for the value too, so yeah, i'm a bit confused?
Is it because the new bulldozer chips were meant to perform better than the i7's? and in reality it doesn't seem they can without some serious overclocking?

I accidentally stumbled on overclockers uk forum when I was googling FSB/Multiplier settings and WOW, the hate there is on a whole different level, AMD owners can't ask anything at all without being trolled by intel owners, that's why I like this site as it has a separate AMD section!

It makes me a bit sad as I'm a VERY happy AMD FX owner who used to always stick with Intel, why can't some people let others be happy with what they bought? I love my new FX6100 system!

Main reason? People hyped them in their own heads and when they came out after 5 years they weren't even better than the previous gen chips.

If you are happy all good but for like £50 more you could have gotten a 2500k which even at stock is beast and overclocks like a monster.

I can't say personally as I've only seen comparison numbers. But from what I can understand, it was meant to be at least competing with the i7 (not necessarily beating it) but instead, it just traded a few punches with the i5 and didn't beat it, either.

I am an Intel owner, but by no means a fan-boy. I've had my fair share of both chips and they both have their traits I love and hate.

Oh, also; Hype was a big thing. A lot of people holding out for Bulldozer and getting something that didn't live up to their expectations tends to make people rage.

Because they're near useless compared to the SB lineup. Even more so against IB, probably.

For mid level gaming the chip is fine like my phenom 2 but from what I understand like my phenom the instant you move up(like how I am with crossfired 6870's) to top end cards bulldozer chips can really bottleneck you.

For me the bulldozer was a great value. I went for the 8150 and run it @ 4.7 ghz and the performance is great. Cinebench is a score of 7.74.

Honestly for me the bulldozer architecture was a blessing, I am in the CG/VFX field and this thing tears through rendering, compositing, simulations etc and for $240 i don't think theres much that compares for me.

Overhyped is one of the main reasons, imo.

In a basic nutshell:

Bulldozer had too much hype and high expectations accompanied by an awkward release.

Bulldozer did not meet the target of many consumers, that wanted to have an AMD chip with Sandy Bridge similar performance.

Bulldozer unfortunately returned poor benchmark results, bad per core performance, and an overall lower performance in many cases than the last generation of AMD Phenom II CPU's.

However, the Bulldozer CPU is still a great chip. It isn't often recommended due to the high price. If the bulldozer CPU's cost less, consumers would buy them. AMD's CPU's are sometimes referred to as cheap and valuable. However the Bulldozer flagship chip, the FX-8150, actually cost's alot more than the Intel 2500K, which delivers much higher performance, for a lower price.

I'm guessing when you say that you mean as they release newer chips and not what we have already bought? can the current bulldozer like I have just bought be improved if needed in anyways? windows updates? bios updates etc?
