Why all the Bulldozer hate?!? - Page 3

Ok. I have a FX 6100. The thing is AMD went in a new direction with these chips. AMD went with there version on HTT of these chip. AMD went with an actual core. The FX chip are really design for Windows 8, so when microsoft and AMD finish there patch on Windows 7 the FX chip will read this on CPU-Z.
FX-41** 2 cores 4 threads
FX-61** 3 cores 6 threads
FX-81** 4 cores 8 threads

People excusing AMD saying softwaer patches and other things are going to improve performance is rediculous. Its like Toyota building a car that doesnt run right and saying to hold out until new parts software/technology is avalable.

When FX-81xx compared to 2500K (both has similar price), its performance for the most part is still disappointing. Why people compare FX-81xx to 2600K/2700K you say? It is because AMD advertised this CPU as a octo-core CPU (capable of 8 threads). People have high expectation because AMD promised many things, and above all, slapped FX on to BD. When it came out, people didn't get those promises. When majority of consumer buy computer parts they expect to buy something than can last for couple years. It has been proven again and again that overall BD cannot outperform SB. It is great to see that you like your FX-6100, but majority OCN member knows better.

Simple word.

Performance/price ratio from SB > performance/price ratio from BD.

I didn't say that the patch will improve performance on them. I just saying that a FX 41** is actually a dual core, FX-61** is actually 3 cores and FX-81** is actually 4 cores and all of them have HTT cores.

EDIT
AMD found that add an actual core to there version of HTT will increase the performance.
Example
AMD with there version of HTT is like a 1.8 core per module.
Intel HTT is like 1.5 cores.
Now I think AMD is going to work on core vs. core on the next Gen of bulldozer, but only time will tell if I'm right or wrong.

Exactly, nothing else. It's great product, with good performance and good for AMD at the end.. It'll take probably some time from the dust caused by the rumours (hype) to settle.

-New Instruction sets on amd FX cpu's. FMA4, XOP, AVX, AES. These are not implemented in almost any software as of yet. Crazy story, Intel tells amd they are switching to fma4 and amd says, "ok, we shall put in fma4 so that we can keep up and not get crapped on again." Well after AMD spends the time and $$ in research and development, Intel says back to AMD, "SIKE, we are using fma3 again but have fun with that!" So as we all know Intel has 40x the revenue of AMD and also is about 90% of the market so software companies are going to code their games, programs whatever to best work with what Intel has thus AMD DOES get crapped on and laughed at and stomped on by review sites because of it. I do believe there was a "patch" for hyper threading years ago to improve the way windows scheduler saw the threads of the pentium 4's and now Windows is working on a fix (2 total patches, already prereleased an incomplete first patch)and it is due out this quarter. Bulldozer is a new architecture and an entirely new way of how a cpu operates with its modular design. Piledriver will improve on it so will steam roller and also excavator. Moral of the story is AMD is the little man in a giants world and they are very innovative and do not just want to "copy" their competition. They took a brave new step and get shet on for it. They will come around and we will be back to AMD vs Intel again.

When a company releases a new product to replace an old product and the new product is supposed to be better/faster/etc. yet it's not, it's dissapointing. BD is a dissapointment. Hate is a word that the OP uses, I wouldn't use that word.
I personally don't hate it. I actually still think it's pretty neat.

But it was just over hyped and over priced for what you got in comparison to other products available...

Certainly not a bad chip though, just not what everyone was expecting...at all.

- Lower IPC than Phenom II even though they claimed otherwise. (sig)

- High price for the performance that you're getting when compared to the competition that has already been available for almost a year. (sandy bridge)

- AMD used GPU limited situations in hopes of tricking ignorant buyers into thinking that bulldozer is a good choice for a gaming PC. Since release we have been shown the truth and its pretty disgusting in some games.

That's it, the truth is out there. People don't like paying for turds or being lied to.

It does make me chuckle though that every person bitc*ing about the fx chips in here (the amd cpu section) own an Intel i5 lol,
And like I said earlier, comparing my new fx6100 to my brother in laws i5 2500k system I have yet to see anything that runs better on the intel in day to day tasks/programs and games.

I paid £98 for my fx6100, much cheaper than the i5 2500k tongue.gif
