That is true. A lot of AMD owners converted to Intel.

I don't expect scheduler patch to have dramatic improvement. Developers for the most part won't rewrite their software for BD.

Remember this?

Honestly I think the turbo voltages are too high I can run turbo with stock voltages. I see no reason why my chips needs 1.4125 volts fore 4.0ghz when I get up to 4.5ghz with that high of a voltage from turbo.

Over hyped product that did not met the promises AMD gave. Expensive for what it gives (I could not believe I will see Intel system cheaper than AMD). Too much release cancellations. And in the end an 8core slower than a 4core with very high energy consumption and a great bottleneck for multi gpu systems.

But where has all the hate came from with the new Bulldozer chips? i've only just built my FX6100 system and am truly amazed how quick this system is especially for the value too, so yeah, i'm a bit confused?
Is it because the new bulldozer chips were meant to perform better than the i7's? and in reality it doesn't seem they can without some serious overclocking?
I accidentally stumbled on overclockers uk forum when I was googling FSB/Multiplier settings and WOW, the hate there is on a whole different level, AMD owners can't ask anything at all without being trolled by intel owners, that's why I like this site as it has a separate AMD section!
It makes me a bit sad as I'm a VERY happy AMD FX owner who used to always stick with Intel, why can't some people let others be happy with what they bought? I love my new FX6100 system!

Clock for clock the FX-6100 is slower than the 1090T that preceded it - yet it sold for the same price. The 6100 is clocked 300mhz (almost 10%) higher than the 1100T but couldn't pull ahead except for a few programs that utilize Bulldozer's new memory controller or instruction set. Here's a quick example for you:

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/amd-fx-8120-6100-4100_6.html#sect0

Compare the 1100T to the FX-6100, specifically on Metro 2033.That's pathetic if you consider Bulldozer is supposed to replace Thurban. On some games you can clock BD high enough to compensate. On most though, it won't matter.

You could go up to the FX-8120, but that chip is only $10 cheaper than intel's 2500k - even though it's about 15-20% slower.

I just want to point out to everyone that thinks Bulldozer is just a plain old slow CPU, that Bulldozer could still be better than Ivy Bridge (well, maybe not), and that it's not a bad CPU. It's just that Windows doesn't know how to schedule tasks for it, because it's unlike any CPU to date.

"still be better". You made it sound like it is better than SB. eek.gif

It is not a bad chip. It is just not priced nicely for what it is. Let's see how AMD will respond with Piledriver.

This is exactly right. If they dropped the 8120 by like $40 we would see a lot of people going AMD... Price needs to reflect performance.

Well, what I am basically saying is that we don't know the true performance of BD yet. We need Windows task scheduling updates to it doesn't treat the 8120/50 as a hyperthreaded 4 core and kill the performance.

He probably still works at AMD since this was dated 12/27/11: http://blogs.amd.com/work/2011/12/27/the-locker-room/

Do you understand what the enhance scheduler does? It will help only if there are a few related threads or a few threads. In heavily related or independent threads, the improved scheduler won't do anything.
Once again...
