Isn't Windows 8 a all touch screen app based OS? Who on OCN is actually going to bother running a OS like that?

Also to add to the OP's post stating Intel users trolling AMD boards and bashing the Bulldozer. Alot of Bulldozers criticism comes from AMD owners that were really expecting a faster CPU and BD couldn't even beat the I5 2500K or the previous generation of PII's.

Windows 8 will look exactly like Windows 7 unless you have a touchscreen heck they removed that weird Vista/7 Ball Startmenu thing and replaced it with a blocky windows logo(I hate things that are round, voxels ftw)

375

And the fact it requires 50% less resources than Windows 7 and 75% less resources than Vista is a huge plus for gamers...more RAM for our games!!

I am tired of Windows 7 saying "your virtual ram" is running low because I didn't want a page file
(I so need to upgrade and Piledriver is soooo far away)

Did I forget everything is 64bit and Multithreaded if created on Windows 8?

I would hope Windows 8 has a desktop mode compatible with a keyboard & mouse,I don't see why MS would completely ditch support for hardware based devices.

I didn't mean what the cores were made of,what I mean is that half of the BD cores are sort of like a hyperthreading type of core.

It uses half of the resources of Windows 7? Wow. eek.gif
Although I think they went backwards with the start button logo,it looks like they removed the date from underneath the start bar clock too...oh well.

Bulldozer Cores are CMP(Once both cores get their instructions they can execute them at the same time without using the same registers and datapaths)((Where on a Hyperthreaded core you use the same registers and the same datapath))

The Fetch/Decode Core and The Floating Point Core are the things that are closer to hyperthreading

Fetch/Decode => Block Multithreading
Floating Point Unit => Simultaneous Multithreading

Windows 7 Min Install is 512MB
Windows 8 Min Install is 256MB

The date under the clock is a feature and the guy that looked at Windows 8 removed it

I think win8 will be much more customizable in appearance. SO if you want that round start or the date or other little things, it should be an option

Seronx, I thought you fully expected Piledriver out in late q1 or early q2 around ib release. Ah wait I think u said that's trinity but that's using PD cores so that shall give us SOMEWHAT of an idea of what to expect. 2012 is the year AMD really gets it all together and everything starts becoming clear. We will see new products featured at CES in a few days and financialist day in february AMD is announcing their new and improved road map. Can't wait!

As reported, PD will be at the EARLIEST, Q3. I don't expect it until Q4 though.

And for the way Windows 8 looks, seronxstrodaumus, no one actually knows.. The final product's looks will be different. We're only under beta for functionality and stability purposes.
