Because there are too many case manufacturers enter to the fan and cooling industry during last two year, so if we still just focus on the cooling product, then we will face big problem in the future.
Therefore, we started the first case project at last year. I think it is fair~
we found one major retail Taiwanese PC case manufacturer and they do ODM/OEM to many famous retail brand in the market.
So, they have standard chassis tooling on hand.
Firstly, we provided their standard sample case to a HK case modding group DIYFORCE to help us to design the outlook of the case and design the internal feature base on their comment.
The original prototype case had been shown during computex 2011 Taipei. Below is their FB with the case modding picture
After we gathered the comment during computex show, we decided to change the color to black, including black cable sleeve on power/LED/SATA/USB/fan cable.
Our original idea was making the same case base on DIYFORCE design, but after we calculated the Tooling cost of the front bezel, top cover, DVD bay cover and the arcylic window. The total cost of those Steel mold and tooling even more expensive than a Golf GTI in HK price(HK new car duty is nearly 100% of the car)
To reduce the risk, we decided to make the front bezel and side window punch tooling only, it can save about half of tooling cost. So, the top cover/DVD bay cover is using standard mesh tooling from factory, the arcylic side window is using 3MM thick orignal plate and cut the size by laser cutting.
For the interior, it is 8+1=9 slots, but I think some pictures is not taking very well in the angle, so it is hard to see them from some pictures.
Those two included fan are same as Silent 12 fan, I just increased the fan speed from 1000 to 1200rpm and make it to black frame+blade, cable sleeve.
The base material of the chassis is 0.7MM thick SECC, so the case structure is very solid and the N.W. is 9.2KG.
I was considering to use 0.8mm SECC but the cost of SECC sheet metal increased alot by these few years, so, base on the cost and quality consideration, I decided to use 0.7mm instead of 0.6mm(factory recommendation).Edited by tony_choi - 1/5/12 at 12:26am
