AMD FX-4100 vs. Intel i5-2500k - Page 2

i dont think you could compare it to a i5-2500k maybe compare it to a i3-2100 or i5-2400. i5-2500k is more superior but double the price

i5-2500k is the better buy, and will maybe last you longer?
Never had any problem with my FX-4100 while playing games, but I dont use crossfire or SLI.
I dont really think there is a comparison between the two. If you are super limited on your budget, get an i3 or FX-4100.
If you can afford it, get the i5.... Not sure why anyone would make a comparison between the two, as they are on different levels.

FX-4100 - £79.39 (Cheapest)
So when they've got a £86 price difference, surely we should be looking at a measurement that takes BOTH price AND performance into account.

People pick 2500K even after the fact that FX4100 is cheaper. Sure it is cheaper, but in the long run 2500K makes much much more sense.
After all not everybody upgrades their computer every year.

FX4100 compares to i3's, but is still slower.

FX8150 compares to 2500 most of the time, occasionally compares to 2600 when running highly threaded apps but is still slower than both in most cases.

Right, they trade blows, only difference is the FX-4100 is easy to OC to about 4.5ghz or 4.6ghz, and thus has good potential to beat the i3 thumb.gif

Phenom II X4s are better value for money than the FX-4100, well I have seen a few charts that shows the Phenom II X4s get better FPS in games and can encode videos better. But if I was you I would just get the 2500K
