small server build from old parts

OK so i have a x3 8400 and also have a x2 6000+ that i have from an older build and a Biostar mcp6p m2+ was wonder if anyone can tell me which cpu would be better for a server build mainly for media sharing and a little bit of minecraft there will not be any over clocking with the x3 8400 because the mcp6p m2+ does not support overclocking an x3 memory is gskill pc-6400 2x2 gig at 4-4-4-12 c1 also have a 5770-6770 for video and harddrive is a samsung f3r and I mostly just need your input on which is the better cpu for a small media and gaming server biggrin.gif

Im already running it with the x3 8400 but am trying to decide if the the 6000+ would be a better choice and if i should put that in instead

Typically file servers, minecraft servers are very low powered machines. If you are putting things on the net you should be concerned with how many people have the potential to connect(you could need some horsepower if users get above 50),what your ISP says, and your amount of available RAM.

it is a private minecraft server that is limited to 10 players and will not see more then 6 or 8 at a time

They are pretty close in terms of performance. The x3 might be better with multithreaded applications but has a much lower clock speed.
