I don't want to be giving out bad advice but I've always installed my OS with my storage mode set to AHCI in the BIOS unless I'm doing a raid setup (I'm sure I've read somewhere that once you've installed with one storage type selected you then can't change without reinstalling your OS but I think these modern boards might be different). Now someone may correct me and say something else is better but its always worked ok for me. Then make sure you dont install the marvel controller cause that pesky bugger will try find his way on somehow when you do a fresh install.

You can switch the storage to AHCI from IDE with a simple registry and bios change.

uninstalled marvel driver but it re installed it again. then i unistaled it again then went into bios to change storage config for sata 2 and 3 to ahci from ide. and it wont boot into windows now. ill try and do a clean install and see if i can use a diffrent driver. but how or where can i get the intell drive for the storage controller? i have never seen anything else but the marvel driver.

Follow my install guide, you may also want a new SP1 iso to use as well. I have links in the guide.

These use the Intel Controller:
- 6 x SATAII 3.0 Gb/s connectors, support RAID (RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 10, RAID 5 and Intel® Matrix Storage), NCQ, AHCI and Hot Plug functions

These use Marvell Controller:
- 2 x SATA3 6.0 Gb/s connectors

Also, you should have changed the registry before hand, Windows doesn't install the drivers for AHCI by default unless your bios settings were changed before windows install.
