Hi I need some help, Ive just upgraded my mother board to a Asus Sabertooth 990FX and have a 1055T CPU Which i want to overclock,
I want to do basic overclocking nothing major and I was to use the AI Suite and turboV evo and use the auto tune button,
I cant seem to find it am I looking for it in the wrong place i cant seem to find it.
You are far better off using the bios then software. TurboV is good for getting that little bit more that windows won't let you boot with but for a 24/7 overclock you want to use the bios.
Hi thanks but I wont want to keep my pc overclocked all the time, so I would like a easy setting switch i know this is possible in turbo V but is it possible in bios, the other thing is it pretty easy overclocking in turbo boost and still running the os.
I used Turbo V with my Asus board and an AMD 1100T, No problems, its easy and stable. You need to install the software for AI Suite from the disc that came with your MOBO or from Asus web site. Ai opens at startup in your tool tray or load it up. Press the auto tune button, then turbo V opens, press auto tuning at the top then you get two choices Fast or Extreme. i would try fast first. So press the fast button, then the program will change your Bios settings , your computer will reboot automaticly and you OC is complete.
I have used the ASUS AI suite to OC and my opinion is that it works great. IMO those that have a negative opinion of software OCing are basing that opinion on what was available years ago or simply did not follow the instructions of the software and had a bad experience. The 4.6 Ghz OC I have on this 4170 was derived with exactly 1 click of the mouse in AI suite. I do plan on tightening things up in the future, but this OC runs cool and stable- and it is better than what most guys can get by randomly changing things in the BIOS.
The #1 thing I can advise about using the AI suite is to be PATIENT. When it starts going through its OC/stability test routine DO NOT MONKEY WITH IT. No matter how long it takes. If it blinks for 5 minutes and you are sure it has locked up- go get a cup of coffee and relax, then come back- it will work it's way through. If you interrupt the process, it will leave the settings mangled, perhaps to the point that you need to clear the CMOS.
Very true. The Asus software might as well be called BIOS frontend being that it directly connects you to the Bios settings from your desktop and gives you the ability to make changes on the fly. After checking the BIOS after making changes in the suite (even as little as playing with the fan speeds) I saw that the changes automatically were also made in the BIOS. With that being said I feel the program works. Just always be sure to check the bios to make sure you see that the changes have also been made there. Then save and exit
So, I watched the video on overclocking the z77 motherboards.. might sound like a noob question but when I go into auto tune I only see a start button. It then reboots, and shows OC at 4.2 GHz but there is no "extreme" button to further overclock.
Im new to this whole Overclocking thing. The AI Suite II makes it pretty simple however i do have one question. How can I "Undo" the OC and reset it back to factory? ... Example. Atm My i5 3.4 is OCed up to 4.2 but TBH i have noticed NO performance and was really only curious about OCing in the first place. Id like to just return it back to its original 3.4
I think you can just uninstall it. I used the software only once and it was terrible for overclocking. The best overclocks are through the bios, you can always load the bios default values to reset everything.
I did uninstall however i downloaded CPUID just to check my clock speed. It still clocks up to 3.8 Also in the bios it says that its "Turbo boosted" up to 3.8 I dont remember if it came turbo boosted or not though
Turbo Boost is normal and a stock setting. TurboVevo doesn't save any overclock settings so restarting the computer resets anything you do. It is very helpful when stability testing to avoid restarts and such.
Yes, that's the name of the application that comes with the Asus AI Suite. Pretty much it's a front-end that gives you access to the bios settings to overclock through a GUI on your desktop. Whenever you load up your computer TurboVevo loads up the settings you overclocked with. It directly interacts with the bios so you can change overclock settings. If you uninstall TurboVevo it no longer loads those settings. Nobody should use TurboVevo to overclock since it is unstable and unpredictable. I used it once to try to overclock, it was a terrible idea and a terrible piece of software. I hate the bundled Asus softwares because they are always so bloated and buggy.
Not really a good thing given that AI Suite has some good applications like the fan suite, or usb fast charger if you mobo has a port for that also the updated suite is better.
