GPU-Z 0.5.7 crashing my GPU's?

Thread Starter
Hello,

recently I updated my GPU-Z from 0.5.6 to 0.5.7. After that I've had this problem twice. I try to open GPU-Z, the picture freezes and monitor goes into sleep (power led blinking). I don't get a BSOD, also BSOD viewer doesn't show me any BSOD. I just push reset button and get the usual errors in the Event Viewer.

The previous system shutdown at 1:09:59 on ‎5.‎01.‎2012 was unexpected.

The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

I just rolled back to 0.5.6 to test it.

Any ideas what might cause this? I've used those same graphics/OC settings and drivers for a month or two and haven't had problems before.

Thanks!
CM

Well all sorts of troubles cropping up for the newer version of GPU-Z 0.5.7 it seems.

Here's my little post about a separatete issue. GPU-Z 0.5.7 Displaying wrong specs for Pixel Fillrate.

Different from your problem but none the less a problem and they both seem related to GPU-Z 0.5.7. I've not had any issues with monitor discrepancies and showed perfect on previous version GPU-Z 0.5.6.

I've tried removing monitoring software and reinstalled and it didn't fix my monitoring specs from 0.5.7 version showing incorrectly. I've rolled back to previous 0.5.6 version and it's back to normal.

Wonder what else will crop up or if anyone else has taken the time to poke around the new GPU-Z 0.5.7 release. rolleyes.gif

Thanks for posting - my suggestion is stay with older version and wait until 0.5.8 releases bypassing this lousy current version 0.5.7. mad.gif

Edited to add:

One thing I noticed we have in similarity is the ASUS Sabertooth but mine is X58 and yours is P67. I highly doubt its mobo related but it may be a very long shot. Might have to post in the ASUS Sabertooth [TUFF] Series Club and see if any other members are having any issues with GPU-Z 0.5.7.

I know this is an old thread but the exact same thing has happened to me with the newer 0.6 version, and on a previous version with a different gpu. Have you had any issues with 0.5.6?

That still is going on and doesn't fully support the new GTX 680 yet. My ASIC qaulity is 0x001
