Zalman Resorator with Fan Kit ...

I recently purchased the Resorator fan kit from quietpc.co.uk to try and curb the heat being generated from the Resorator. I have a 3 way water cooling setup with CPU/VGA and Chipset in a loop. It runs stable around 49oC in stress mode but the Resorator gets hot to the touch. I noticed this fan kit some time ago and was dubious as to whether it would make a difference, also no-one here seems to have it either and couldnt confirm its results.

It arrived in a very basic package with little instructions, not that you would really need any to setup the cooler. Pop it on the Resorator and plug in the Fan Mate 2 supplied and your good to go.

Conclusion ... Brilliant !
Cools the Resorator 15oC cooler in stress mode and the fan is virtually silent. The LED in the fan isnt great, i thought it might illuminate the tower a bit better, but cooling wise, it does a great job!

I saw that and was wondering at how well it would work. A lot of people shun the Reserator kit because it lacks a fan, but the radiant element is freakin ginormous. I put mine right behind my case so that all of my case fans hit it, I did notice a decrease in temps around 5c. I was thinking of wrapping the Reserator in a clear vinyl or plastic tube and mounting a fan at the top to channel the air through the fins. I think then it might actually perform at its top potential.

yeah i considered the whole wind tunnel effect, would be kick ass with this cooler but would create quite a bit of noise i would imagine. Cooling so far with OC/d VGA and CPU has been fantastic...

One thing i didnt mention though ... i did ask this in a previous post to see if anyone had this kit first ...

The air is obviously blown downwards, if you have teh resorator on your desk like i do, then it blows cool air over your desk. I was worried that this would be annoying but its actually quite pleasant in this hot room. Chills the air a little but doesnt blow a breeeze!
